Jade shook her head and snagged his paw with her much smaller hand, tugging him back to her side. “You would give me any part of you to make me happy.”

The towering Felid nodded, paws coming to rest on her shoulders. “You don’t understand what a gift you are to me, just as you are. Anything I can give you, Jade, is yours.”

It took some doing to pull his head down to hers for a kiss, but she did it.

“I don’t know if what they say about Leopardines being the greatest lovers in the galaxy is true for all of them, but I know it’s true for you.”

Chapter Thirteen

“Welcome aboard, Jade. I’m sorry I didn't greet you properly earlier. Our—uh—schedules never meshed.”

Jade snuggled her hips closer to Ardol’s as they sat across from the Leonid captain during breakfast. “It’s all right. I’ve been very comfortable, and your ship is luxurious.”

Ardol snorted.

“Luxurious to some. Definitely to humans,” Jade amended.

“I’ll say!” Wendy nodded, brown curls bobbing.

“I keep telling him that this place is as big as the old Metro Lab dormitories, but he doesn’t get it,” Dax chipped in.

“He doesn’t have anything to compare it to,” Layla defended her new husband as she burped her daughter over her shoulder. “He’s never been on Sapien-Three, Dax.”

“It’s huge, and it’s beautiful,” Jade said firmly. She hated small talk. She wanted to go back to her quarters and cuddle up on Ardol’s lap. Naked. Taking advantage of his offer and experimenting with his tail.

She wondered if tails were commonly used for sexual gratification with other Felid couples. She couldn’t ask Wendy and Layla. She could ask Avis. Avis would know.

“What’s really amazing is how they kept it looking so good with nothing but two old Leonids and a bunch of service droids,” Jaxson guffawed, handing his nephew back to Rupex. “Ardol, I need you for a couple of hours today. Can you source some parts for me in the Lynxian System? We should have them installed before we hit the skies again.”

“I suppose I can part from my Queen for an hour or two. Only because she must be safe when we travel,” Ardol charmed, eyes hooded as he pressed a kiss to her hand.

“And because I pay you,” Rupex reminded him with an impatient huff. “Newlyweds,” he mumbled.

“Ship. Craft,” Marcus said into his bowl of fruit, and everyone laughed.

“Speaking of ships,” Ardol interrupted, “Jade wanted to visit some friends in town. Since I’m working today, perhaps she could travel to town with you, Marcus?”

“I’m heading out in an hour. We’ll take the shuttle.”

Jade nodded, feeling a strange sense of emptiness at the thought of leaving Ardol, even if it was just for a few hours. When breakfast was over, she clung to his paw, mad at herself for showing any hint of vulnerability outside of their quarters. “I’ll be back soon,” she said, mostly to comfort herself.

“If you aren’t back by dark, I will come find you myself.” Ardol squeezed her hand. “Now that I’ve slept with you beside me, I can’t sleep without you.”

“Human girls call that clingy.” But not me. If it were some other guy? Gross. Ardol? I love it.

“Leopardine Kings call it weak.” He looked heavenward. “Maybe I’m failing.”

She kissed his bicep and rested her head on his arm for a moment. “Maybe you’re winning. Maybe you’re not even playing the same game.”

He nodded slowly. “I like that. We’re playing our own game.” With a wicked wink, he whispered, “And tonight the challenge will be if I can make you scream my name again.”

“Mm. Hard to scream much of anything when your cock is in my mouth.” With a sweet smile that belied the dirty words she’d just spoken, Jade sauntered away from the table.

She knew Ardol was watching. She could feel his smile without even turning her head.

“HOW’S MARRIED LIFE?” Marcus asked.

“Better than I expected,” Jade said in a cheerful voice. Inside, her guard was up.
