ARDOL PACED. THE BRIDE was supposed to be inexperienced and nervous. What if he hurt her accidentally? What if she was badly injured from the past and couldn’t feel pleasure, no matter what he did?

For a moment, selfish disappointment ruled his heart, but something pushed it out of the way.

My poor Queen. She’s smart and beautiful. She clearly didn’t like her work. I wonder why... I wonder why she continued there. Was she scared? They didn’t break her spirit, but they wounded it.

I want to hurt them all.

A protective snarl pulled from his throat without warning.

Maybe you should just embrace her tonight. Hold her and caress her. Don’t press for more than the feel of her in your arms.

His father would say that was foolish. Queens shouldn’t have such power in their relationships, and no good would come of waiting to see if she could ever desire him. An heir was more important than her desires.

Then Jade emerged, and all thoughts of his father and his old life fled.

My Queen is beautiful.

My Queen is Bastet in human form!

Dark slinky fabric shimmered on thin straps, falling just below her thighs. The translucent materials showed full breasts and small hard nipples, the edges of a rib cage and a flat torso that flared to smooth hips, and a triangular patch of fur between her thighs.

Her “mane” was no longer surrounding her head, but sleeked down to flow over her shoulders like a waterfall of fire.

Ardol pressed a paw over his suddenly raging heart. “I never knew human Queens could be so beautiful. My goddess. You are Bastet in human form, Jade!” he whispered.

Jade laughed softly and stared at him for a long moment.

Ardol was suddenly acutely aware that he was only wearing his robe, made of a lush, velvety material in deep purple. It had fallen open at some point, leaving a wide vee that went from shoulders to hips, a strip of loosely tied belt, and another vee that showed hips to feet.

“You’re not so bad yourself. You look softer after a shower. Fluffy.”

Ardol smoothed a hand over his chest. “I usually use oil of citrine to keep my fur moisturized, but I forgot in my excitement.”

“That’s okay. I like you fluffy.”

“I like you sleek. May I?” Ardol reached a paw out and let it hover over her hair.

“My hair? Knock yourself out.” Jade chuckled again.

“You have a lovely laugh. You are lovely all over.”

“You can see that, huh?” Jade swayed in her barely-there nightwear while he slowly eased his paw down her hair, following the curve of her head down to the middle of her back.

“Would it be all right if we laid down and slept? And I held you in my arms?” Ardol asked.

“Okay. Sure. And then?”

“We sleep. When we wake up, I’ll give you a tour of the ship, show you my office, and we’ll eat something.”

“What about the pleasuring?” Jade arched one eyebrow.

Ardol moved to the bed that was big enough for two huge Felids and pulled back the covers. “I thought about that. I want to—but I’m not convinced you’d enjoy my attempts. It’s still sexual. So... I think holding you would be nice. You are precious to me, my treasure, my Queen. And I’m very soft. I’d make a good pillow.”

Jade’s eyes fixed at his waist, and he cinched his robe up more tightly. “Sorry.”

“It’s impressive. Sure that I can’t do a little marital exploration?”

Ardol breathed in sharply through his nose. He’d love nothing more than to be explored by such a sensual beauty.
