“You want to go back.”

I bit my lip, looking at him sheepishly.

“You actually want to go back,” he breathed in shock. “But your parlor. Isn’t this everything you wanted?”

“Not everything. Being back in Elèor has been a dream come true. But, let’s be honest. The tower is our home.”

His eyes grew bright, shining with all kinds of emotion that threatened to unravel me. I held his cheeks in my hands, bringing our foreheads together.

“What if… what if we went back? It’s not like we’d be trapped there. We could ascend and descend whenever we wanted and—”

“Yes.” Zhèmson stole a kiss. And then another. “Yes, yes, yes. I never hated the tower, you know this. I just hated losing my freewill. Yes, my Temptress. I’d love to go back with you.”

I wanted to explode with joy. Tears filled my eyes, joining his, as we laughed at the thought. Then Zhèmson grew somber, sad even.

“It’s not possible, though. I only found one bean, and it’s how I got down here.”

I pulled back, grinning. I reached for my locket, which he’d given me as a Bonding gift. Popping it open, I dumped the contents into my palm. Glittering like glass, a bean sat at the center of my palm. Zhèmson was quiet, his eyes fixated on the bean. Then his lips stretched.

“You beautiful, devious, wicked creature. You’ve had one this whole time?”

“Several,” I grinned with pride. “I had one, so I planted it. Now there’s several because I multiplied it.”

“Daliah,” Zhèmson breathed. He looked into my eyes, burning my soul with his fiery love. “I will claim you in this parlor until all you can do is rest in my arms after I’ve satiated our pleasure.” My cheeks burned at the thought. A heat built at my core. “Once I claim you, we’re packing our things and…” His voice wobbled. “Going back home.”

I smiled against his mouth, still holding the bean in my palm.

“Well then, my High Prince. Let our goodbyes begin.”

Zhèmson’s grin turned wolfish. Before I could say another word, he spread me wide before him, plunging into me, until I indeed sang from the throes of our passion, unashamed at who was around to enjoy its melody.
