"He’s been sneaking around, meeting with people in secret," she replied. "I recorded one of his conversations. They’re planning something big for tonight."

"Fuck," I muttered, running a hand through my hair. "Alright. We’re moving on the barn tonight. Stay safe, and keep your eyes open. If you see anything suspicious, call me immediately."

"I will. Be careful," she said, her voice trembling slightly.

We hung up, and I took a deep breath. This was it. Tonight, we’d either take them down or face the consequences.

Chapter Thirty-Eight

Heather

Isat in the living room as the sun dipped below the horizon, worrying about Danny and the danger he’d be facing.

My phone buzzed, snapping me out of my thoughts. I glanced at the screen, my heart skipping a beat. It was an unknown number. Hesitantly, I answered.

"Hello?"

A distorted voice crackled through the speaker. "Stop digging, or you'll regret it. Leave Silver Creek, or you won't live to see the end of this."

My blood ran cold, a chill creeping up my spine. "Who is this?" I demanded, my voice shaking.

"Consider this your final warning," the voice said before the line went dead.

I stared at the phone, my mind racing. The threat was real, and they knew I was getting close. I felt a surge of fear, my hands trembling as I set the phone down. Leaving Silver Creek would mean abandoning everything Dina had worked for, everything I had come to love about this place. But staying meant putting myself in danger.

For a moment, I considered packing up and leaving. The idea of running away, of starting fresh somewhere far from the threats and danger, was tempting. But then I thought of Dina, of the legacy she had built here, and my resolve hardened. I couldn’t let them scare me away. This was my home now, and I was going to fight for it.

I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. I needed to tell Danny. He had to know about the threat.

"Hey," I said when he answered. "I got a call. They threatened me, told me to leave Silver Creek."

There was a brief pause before he spoke, his voice tense. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, just shaken. I’m not leaving, though. I’m staying and fighting for Dina’s legacy."

"Good. We’re going to take them down tonight. Stay put, and don’t do anything reckless. I’ll come by before the raid."

"Okay," I agreed, my voice steadier. "Be careful."

"You too."

We hung up, and I sat there for a moment, trying to process everything. The fear was still there, gnawing at the edges of my resolve, but there was also a fierce determination. I wasn’t going to let them win.

The hours dragged by as I waited for Danny. The house felt too quiet, the ticking of the clock too loud. I tried to distract myself with chores, but my mind kept drifting back to the threat, to the raid, to Danny. Finally, the sound of a car pulling up broke the silence. I hurried to the door, relief flooding through me as I saw Danny stepping out of his truck.

He looked tense, his eyes scanning the surroundings before they settled on me. I opened the door, and he walked in, closing it behind him.

"Hey," he said softly, pulling me into a hug. "You’re sure you’re okay?"

"Yeah," I replied, leaning into him. "Just scared."

He kissed the top of my head, his arms tightening around me. "We’re going to get through this. I promise."

We stood there for a moment, holding each other, drawing strength from the connection.

Finally, he pulled back slightly, looking into my eyes. He hesitated, then said, "There’s something I need to tell you. Tyler might be involved in all of this."

Despair rippled through me. "Tyler? Are you sure?"
