She was so beautiful as she approached me and the preacher in the living room. She smiled at me as she held her father’s arm with one hand and a red rose with the other. I almost couldn’t believe this shit. I was getting married, and to this beautiful woman? I always heard people say anything was possible. Now, I knew it to be true. I’d decided I was good with random fucking and living alone. I was rich, I liked my job, and I could go anywhere and do anything I wanted. Then I saw her face and all that shit flew out the window. Life wouldn’t be right without Lilith. I was sure of that.

Once she was presented to me, I grasped her hand and kissed her cheek. She always smelled so good, like baby powder, strawberries, and Dove soap.

“Dearly beloved,” the preacher began, but I cut him off.

“Look, man…just give us the abbreviated version. We don’t need all that woopty woo shit. Remember, I told you that?”

Pauline gasped and Memphis shook her head. Umber and Denita clamped their hands over their mouths, Cato and Bruno were unfazed, and Papa King muttered, “Aw, shit.”

The Reverend gave me a quick nod and continued with, “Uh, Horacio, do you?—”

“Hell-yeah I do,” I cut in.

“Okay…and Lilith, do you?—”

“She does,” I said.

Lilith rolled her eyes. “Yes, I do.”

The preacher nodded again. “The rings?”

We exchanged rings and the preacher quickly rattled off, “I-now-pronounce-you-man-and-wife-you-may-kiss-the-bride.”

And that’s exactly what I did.

“It was cool of your dad to give us that car. A fully restored 1968 Camaro?! Damn! That thang is sexy, too,” Ray expressed.

“It was one of his first cars. Besides letting Pauline drive it from time to time, he’s been saving it plus an old Mustang and an ancient Shelby to gift to us girls on our wedding days. It was supposed to be an incentive. Problem is, none of us really care about cars,” I said with a shrug.

“True. You ain’t even asked about your Telluride.”

“I haven’t thought about it. I assumed it was still parked behind my building.”

“Nah, it’s in the garage here.”

“Well, thank you.”

Pulling his red tie off, he leaned in to kiss me before I headed into the en-suite. Of course, he followed me. I was used to it, so it didn’t bother me. Knowing my life was in jeopardy, it was actually a comfort to have him hovering over me at all times.

“Ray?” I said as I slipped out of my dress and tossed it into the hamper, thinking how great it was that we had Valentina, Bruno’s girlfriend, who cleaned and did laundry for us.

“Yeah, baby?” he replied as he dropped his pants and removed his dress shirt. He’d looked so good in his suit during our very abbreviated wedding, but he looked even better in nothing but his underwear.

“Are you sure Marlon is the person who put a hit out on me?”

He stared at me for a moment. “I’ll be sure before I kill him.”

I nodded. “Okay.”

“Hey, come here,” he murmured, a smile playing on his lips. After I stepped into his open arms, he continued, “Today is a happy day, a good day. You’re Mrs. Nation now, and you’re carrying our baby. You’re safe. I ain’t gon’ let shit happen to you. You know that, right?”

“I do know that, but…why you being so nice?”

“You right.” He released me, smacking me on the ass. “Take those panties off and bend over the counter.”

Heat swallowed me whole as I rushed to obey him. I didn’t know my pussy could be so responsive. It was wet and throbbing almost instantly. My nipples were hard, my breasts heavy, my mouth moist. My heart thudded with anticipation, and when he appeared in the vanity mirror behind me, pressing his erection against my ass, I actually whimpered.

“Hold on to that counter and don’t let go, baby. Got it?” he advised as he dragged a hand up my back. When I nodded, he clutched the nape of my neck, making me suck in a breath as he crooned, “Good girl. Now…you ready for this dick?”
