I shoot him a look, and he just shrugs. “Tell me that’s not true.”

Rosa chuckles as her and Noah join us on the mats. “Bushy-bearded?”

“Just… don’t even bother,” I mutter.

“Rosa, we can grab you since you’re close to us,” Luca says to her.

Her eyes widen slightly, and she glances at Noah. “Oh, that’s alright. I’m already riding with Noah.”

Luca’s eyes slide to Noah. “Really?” He smiles, glancing between him and Rosa. “You live on opposite ends of the city. That’s pretty damn early to make such a long drive, in the opposite direction of the airport… unless it won’t be a long drive and all you have to do is roll over in–”

“So, UFC officials, already eyeing you two,” Rosa cuts him off, leaning back on her hands and smiling between me and Luca. “That’s fucking awesome.”

I chuckle at her abrupt change in conversation and Luca excitedly sits forward, forgetting all about his effort to figure out Rosa’s airport travel plans.

“Oh my god, right?” He shakes his head and blows out a breath. He then looks at me. “You better fucking win, so I don’t have to leave your sorry ass behind.”

I roll my eyes and let out a breath of laughter. “Cocky asshole.”

He lifts an eyebrow and drops his eyes to my dick. “It isn’t right now, but it could be.”

“Oh my god,” Elijah mutters, and Max runs a hand over his face.

And I just close my eyes and sigh.

“So, anyway…” Rosa chuckles. “Since everyone is here… what do you all say about a little cooldown stretch session?”

A chorus of groans and no’s sound from everyone around the mats, and Rosa just rolls her eyes.

“Fucking babies,” she murmurs.

“Alright,” Max says with a laugh as he turns back to his office. “If there’s no yoga happening, everyone go home. Go to bed.”

Adão hops to his feet quickly. “Yup, sounds great. I don’t need a torn hamstring two days before a fight, just because Rosa says I should be able to touch my toes.”

Noah laughs as we all get to our feet. “I actually got pretty close…”

Elijah glances at him over his shoulder as he makes his way to the locker room. “Please. You’re supposed to be on our side.”

I chuckle as I start to follow everyone to the locker room. But when I notice Luca isn’t coming, I look behind me to see him standing by the bench, looking down at his phone.

“What?” I ask.

Luca looks up at me from his phone, as everyone disappears into the locker room. He flips it around to show me the screen, and I step closer so I can see it. It shows a missed call, and a voicemail.

“It’s my parents,” he says.

I take another step towards him, tension immediately entering my body. “When did they call?”

“About an hour ago.” He looks back down at the screen, but he doesn’t do anything as he just continues to stare at it.

Worry settles in me as I watch him, as whatever they said in that voicemail could set him back. They could have called to berate him for what he said to them, and what I said to them, or to continue putting pressure on him to do what they want him to. And with just two days until a fight that could change our lives forever… I’m worried about how this will affect him.

“Are you going to listen?” I ask.

He looks up at me again, thoughtfully. “I almost feel like it would be worse not to.”

I nod in understanding. I get it. Luca and I have both attempted to ignore and shove aside the things that were holding us back, and it never got us anywhere. So that’s not what we do anymore. Now, we face the fear straight on, and fight it.
