“I do, for the most part,” she said.

“What don’t you like?”

Her cheeks went bright red.

“I’m going to say the wolves,” he said.

She opened and closed her mouth. “It’s notthe wolves, well, not the fact they’re wolves…”

“What is it then?” he asked.

“They don’t … consider us worthy.”

This made him frown.

“I’ve lived here a long time, nearly twentyyears now, and in all that time, I’ve never once seen any of thewolves mate or marry a human. What I’ve seen is the wolves come totown, enjoy the humanmen and women, and then leave them high and dry for a fellow wolf.Being used and disrespected is what I don’t like.”

Chapter Two

“Everything is done,” Wendy said. “We’vejust got to wait for a select few to come and collect their clothing, and you can deliverthe rest.”

Eloise took the clipboard her motherpassed her. Her mother was a dry cleaner and seamstress, and repair lady, which she likedto add on, because she always got asked that question if she didrepairs. She owned the only shop, as well as the side business of ahaberdashery and fabric store. Eloise loved working with hermother. The work between them was always busy, which is why it wassuch a pain in the ass when Dorothy didn’t pull her weight. It washard to believe at times that Dorothy was the oldest, even thoughshe never acted like it. She was constantly picking up her sister’sslack, and trying to find her. Most of the time she was in a motelor some random wolf’s house, enjoying him.

“I’ll get it done this afternoon,” Eloise said.

“I’m going to close the store early today.I’m tired, and with it being the full moon in a couple ofdays’ time, I know we’regoing to be busy.”

“Crap, when is the fullmoon?” She rushed overto the calendar and saw it was only a few days away. Wrinkling hernose, she stared down at the clipboard. “I didn’t realize it hadcome around that fast.”

Every month, the days after the full moonwere always the busiest. The wolves didn’t like to squanderanything, so clothing came to be cleaned and repaired. Her mother, many moons ago, had told her to never be curious about the stainsfound in the clothing. Eloise never questioned her mother, she just did as she wasinstructed. Cleaning, repairing, and doing the job to the best ofher ability. It helped that she enjoyed the job.

Dorothy, on the other hand, hated it and preferred to either dealwith the haberdashery side, or to deliver. Today, her sister hadn’teven shown for work. This was fast becoming a regular occurrence, much to her own annoyance.

Without another word to her mother, shegrabbed the van keys and headed out. She didn’t like doing deliveries likethis.

For the next couple of hours, Eloise drovefrom pack to pack. This was part of the agreement with the packs. As a human resident ofNo Wolves Road, she could venture from land to land without risk ofanything happening to her.

A couple of the wolves attempted to flirt, and she shot them down.

When it came to the final delivery, whichhappened to be the Alpha ranch, she frowned. Was that Beau’s place? She didn’t know that her mother had done any of the work for Beau.Pulling up just outside of the large ranch, she saw thesign, and then drovedown the long drive with several bumps in the road. Before she hadeven parked the van, she spotted a couple of men and a womanoutside in the front.

This was the first time she had delivered tothis ranch.

“What the fuck do you want?” one of the guyssaid.

“I’ve got a delivery here for aSteven Dee,” she said, noticingthe gaze turn to the guy who lay on the front lawn.

“Seriously?” the girl asked.

“What?” Eloise imagined the one calledSteven asked.

“We all do our laundry the right way and youget it sent out.”

She left them to argue amongst themselves, and she went to the back. It was the largest order, with several sacks ofclothing being laundered and ironed.

“You know Alpha is going to have your ass,”the girl said.

“You might as well start looking for a newpack.”
