With Wendy awake, he had to climb out ofthe window, whereas whenthey were asleep, he could walk out the front door. Sleeping nextto Eloise was addictive. He loved holding her in his arms, and overthe past couple of months, she had gotten bigger. He was prettysure he’d even felt his son or daughter kick, which had been aheady experience, and one he wasn’t going to forget. It wasamazing.
He walked into his home and immediatelycame to a stop as he caught sight of Eloise in his kitchen. Some ofhis pack were sittingaround the dining room table they had set up.
Eloise turned toward him with asmile. “Morning,” shesaid. “I’ve got pancakes, sausage, eggs, and hot maple syrup. Areyou hungry?”
“Starved.”
He lowered into his chair and he couldn’ttake his gaze away from the dream in front of him. She looked sobeautiful. So at home.
Eloise hadn’t been in his home since he’dfucked everything up. She didn’t bring the food anymore. Rose didthat.
He watched her, unable to look away as sheset him a plate and then moved in to place it close.
Much to his surprise, she leaned down andkissed his cheek. “Enjoy.”
Rose was one of the packwho was sitting at the table,and he saw her smirk.
Beau didn’t know what was going on.Picking up his fork, he began to eat, and it was so good to haveher back. The scent of her filled the kitchen, even as she cookedthe deliciousfood.
He wanted her. He felt that arousal buildinginside himself to be with her once again.
Eloise filled his plate as he finished hisfirst sitting. As he was enjoying his second plate, one by one, thepack began to leave, until there was only him and Eloise. Before Rose left, she had mouthedthe words, “Don’t fuck this up,” and he had no intention of doing so.
She spun around to look at him and grippedthe back of the chair opposite. “I … uh … I don’t want us to sneakaround anymore. I don’t think we should.”
Beau didn’t say anything and waited asEloise took a deep breath.
“You hurt me with what you said when I toldyou I was pregnant.”
“I know, and I’m sorry. If I could go backand slap myself, or beat the crap out of myself, trust me, Iwould.”
Eloise smiled. “And … I wanted to hateyou. I wanted to never see or be near you again. I’d given you myvirginity, and in return you’ve given me a baby, and then accused me of being withsomeone else.”
Beau gritted his teeth. It wasn’t his finestmoment. It was his worst fucking moment and one he regretted morethan anything.
“But, I can’t stop loving you. I havetried. I’ve tried ignoring you. I didn’t even want to dance withyou at the Halloween party, but then you got close, and Ididn’t want to let yougo. I love you, Beau, and it kind of scares me because I don’t knowwhat it means, or if you even want this to work.”
She stopped as he slid his chair out androunded the table. He pulled her into his arms, kissing her lipsfirst, and then he slid down onto one knee.
“This is what I should have done all thosemonths ago, Eloise. I’m a fucking idiot. You’re the first womanI’ve ever wanted to be with. You got under my skin that night inthe bar, and you were all I could think about. I’m not going to promise you that I won’tfuck up, because there is no guarantee of that. What I can promiseyou is that when I do fuck up, I will make it up to you and doeverything in my power to make you happy.”
“Marry me,” Eloise said.
“What?”
“I know you’re down on one knee, butIactually came here to propose.”She moved down onto one knee, and he did have to help her so shewas comfortable. “Marry me, Beau. I don’t want to go sneakingaround anymore, and my mom and sister are a little tired ofit.”
“Marry me,” he said.
“I asked you first.”
“Yes, I will marry you, but you also have toagree to marry me.”
She chuckled. “But I am asking you, and withme asking this question, that tells you I want to marry you.”
“That’s good enough for me,” he said.
Beau didn’t know what had changed Eloise’smind. Either way, it was a gift. He fucked up, he knew that, andnow he got a chance to finally make it right, and he wasn’t goingto mess up again.
