There were so many things he wanted totell Rose, but in the end, he just looked her in the eye andthanked her. Headingtoward the door, he gripped the handle and opened it.

“For what it’s worth, I know Eloise is still in love withyou.”

This made him stop and turn toward Rose.

“She tries to hide it, but there are times I’ve seen her lookat you, and she may deny it, but she does like you beingclose.”

“That doesn’t mean she is in love withme.”

“She is. Trust me on this, she wants to bewith you. All you’ve done is hurt her, but I think you can win herback.”

That was all he could hope for.

Chapter Eleven

Eloise was bored.

The party was fun and the music allHalloween-themed, butshe stood in a corner, dressed in a sexy nurse’s outfit, as perDorothy’s request. Her sister wouldn’t accept her in any otherway.

She had tried to talk her out of it. Herstomach had started to show, but the outfit wasn’t too tight, atleast that was what Dorothy told her, but she had her doubts.

Eloise held onto her soda with a deathgrip. The whole town knew about her quick, fleeting relationshipwith Beau, and everyoneseemed to be keeping a wide berth from her. A few of the localsgave her a nod. Beau’s pack were at the party, and had gottencloser to her, giving her a greeting.

No one else would talk to her.

She couldn’t help but wonder if that wasbecause of Beau and his reputation. Not that she hoped to findanother man. The truth was, she was still very much hung up onBeau. It didn’t help that he seemed to be everywhere she turned.Obviously, he was not atthe party. This was the first time she felt so completely alone.Ironic considering she was surrounded by people—but not Beau.

There was no point her staying at a partythat was making her feel worse. Glancing around the room, she sawthat her sister hadalready found some company. From the looks of it, another wolf, notthat this surprised her. Dorothy was more for wolves thanhumans.

Just as she’d made the decisionto send her sister a text, shecouldn’t help but look toward the door as Beau, himself, camethrough. Several people, humans, and wolves, stopped to look athim.

Eloise couldn’t help butbe drawn to him. Rose hadwarned her that she had a connection with Beau, regardless of thefact he’d been an ass to her.

He looked around the room and the moment he saw her, his gazedidn’t waver as he approached her. She didn’t try to escape. It wasnice to finally be looked at and noticed.

Her heart began to pound and she feltthe fluttering in herstomach that was always there. Also, she hated to admit that therewas a pool of heat gathering between her legs. Why did Beau have tolook so damn attractive all of a sudden? She watched him, unable tokeep her eyes off him.

“Hello,” he said.

That gravelly voice made her nipplesharden. Rose’s warningplayed in the back of her mind, and she tried to ignoreit.

“Hello,” she said. She did a quick sweep ofhis costume and smiled. “A wolf rancher?”

“Rose did my costume,” he said.

This made her laugh.

“Sexy nurse, I like it. As it happens, Ifeel a little … achy. I think you might need to examine me.”

Eloise knew she should tell him to getlost, to back off, but they were at a party and tonight, she didn’t want to argue. Itcould have something to do with the arousal coursing through herbody, she didn’t know for sure.

She looked past his shoulder at thedance floor. “Well, as Iam a dead nurse, I think the only solution is that you take me ontothat floor and dance with me.” She expected him to argue, butinstead he held his hand out. There was no hesitation.

She felt compelled to touch him. Themoment her hand slid into his, she felt … complete. There was no other word for it.This was how it was supposed to be between them.

Beau led the way, and within seconds shewas in his arms, and her body felt like it ignited. She wanted to be close to him.The urge to rub herself all over him was so strong. Was this whatRose was talking about?

Arousal unlike anything she had ever feltconsumed her. Staringinto his eyes, she didn’t look away, just watched him as he lookedback at her. No one else existed and she didn’t care if someone sawthem.
