I tried to tell myself that I was being stupid and nothing was wrong. So, I focused on getting ready to head out for the evening. That meant ditching my suit and getting into a pair of jeans and a T-shirt.

As I did the hair check, my phone lit up.

Get your ass downstairs now.

I just shook my head. Scuba had no chill, but this was his evening.

So I grabbed my phone and my room key and headed to the lobby.

Sure enough, both Scuba and Levine were there. Scuba's face was buried in his phone. Probably trying to find a puck bunny or two to meet up with tonight. I had to hand it to the guy; he loved the ladies, and they were all stunners.

"Is there a city where you don't have a dozen girls’ numbers on your phone?"

He chuckled and glanced up. "'Bout damn time you showed up. Well, until this year, I would say Vancouver."

Both mine and the other Spencer's jaw dropped. That was crazy since we were well known for having gorgeous ladies at our beck and call. Deuce came to his senses first and said, "Why the hell not?"

"Let's just say there was a girl that I would love to reconnect with there, but that ship has sailed. Besides, the girls at the Roxy make it so easy not to collect numbers. Just show up there, and you're in one."

Of all the things, I wouldn't expect him to say that he was hung up on a girl. Maybe Natalie was onto something about Eric being Scuba's child, but a night out with the fellas wasn't the time to dig up secrets.

"The girls at the Roxy are top titty, aren't they?" the other Spencer said. "The Uber is waiting."

"Awesome, and the girls will meet us at the club."

Now that I was with Nat, I didn't give a damn about meeting girls at a club. My only goal tonight was to just have fun and get a little buzz on.

The three of us climbed into the SUV. It was a tight fit with three hockey players, but I didn't expect anything less from Levine. He always seemed to underestimate the size needed when booking rides.

"When are you going to finally spring for a comfort ride, Spence?" I asked as I tried to find my damn buckle.

"Never. If you hate it so much, get your own damn ride."

Then, I finally got my message from Natalie.

Out with the girls. You should go out too, but the moment you get back, sex and lots of it.

I loved the way she thought.

Chapter 29

Natalie

Ipulled up to a shabby yellow house. It was cute. Eric paced behind the storm door. He clearly wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.

I parked my SUV and opened the driver's door, and Eric was already launching himself outside. I caught him and said, "Hold up. You know I need to talk to your mom."

Annette pulled a jacket around her shoulders, "Thank you so much for taking Eric to practice. I would do it tonight, but I booked a dog walk while Luke is at work."

I loved hearing that she was continuing to do dog walking. She’d started doing that while she was at the shelter as a way to pull in money since she didn't have a degree or a clue how she could make money on her own.

"I'm so glad you’re still doing those."

"Me too, but I have to be careful not to have any dog hair on me since Luke's allergic, and I don't want him to ask about why I haven't given him any of the money."

It was even better that she was saving the money for her and Eric and not sharing it with Luke. I hadn't actually met the guy yet, but from everything I'd heard, the guy was a real asshole.

I really wanted Annette to leave him for good so I could set her up with Scuba.
