Scotty handed his cellphone to PK. "Why not try to see if you can track the phone?"

PK took the phone, but he didn't feel hopeful. He opened up the app and saw that it was an address not far away from the Magnificent Mile, but as he zoomed in on the map, he saw it was in the middle of residential apartments, which made him really worried. He hadn't hooked up with anyone the previous night, so he knew the phone had to have been stolen. He took the steps to lock the phone. He was tempted to wipe it too, but he wasn't quite ready to take it that far since he hoped he might get it back.

He passed the phone back to Scotty. As Scotty grabbed the phone through the gap in the seats, he asked, "Any luck?"

"Last known spot was near the Magnificent Mile?"

Scotty's brow arched up. "Near? Did you leave it at a bar?"

"I wish, but it's more residential." He was disheartened.

"That sucks, man. Seems like you need a new phone."

"You're telling me." He hated the idea of getting a new phone, but it seemed inevitable. At least he should still be able to talk to Clarissa with his tablet. He just had to dig it out of his backpack when he got on the plane. If the bus hadn’t been pulling up to the airfield, he would have done it then.

He quickly grabbed his things and got onto the plane. He dug into the bag and realized his tablet was gone too. He swore one more time. He really screwed up. At least he was more hopeful of getting his tablet back. He hadn’t taken that out drinking last night, so it was still at the hotel room.

He quickly went up to the front of the plane where all the administrative staff sat and found the team services guy whose name he could never remember. As soon as he came up to the guy, the dude asked, "What can I do for you, PK?"

"Could you contact the hotel? It's been a morning, and I left my tablet in the hotel room."

"Sure thing." The guy grabbed his phone from his lap and started to do his thing.

PK went back to his seat and drummed his fingers. He felt so dumb for losing both his tablet and phone in the same day. Now he had no way to contact his favorite person in the world. At least he should get his tablet back in a couple of days, although just in time to fly back to Texas for the toy drive.

The team services guy came down the aisle with a cell phone glued to his ear. "Alright, PK, where are we sending it?"

He grinned like a fool. He was so happy to hear that the tablet had been found. "Petey's place."

The team services guy walked away. It still seemed so weird that his in-season home would be Petey's place. But he sold his old place after his surgery, so he needed a place to crash. He was grateful to stay with Petey and grateful for the tradition of vets opening up their homes to the new guys on the team. It seemed like yesterday that Petey joined the league. It didn't matter that they won two cups together or that it had been a few years playing together.

He just hoped that he could talk to Clarissa soon.

Clarissa

It was weird, she'd haven't heard from PK the past two days. It was a travel day for him, so he might have gotten delayed on the flight. It was probably nothing, but there was that niggling in the back of her brain telling her to be afraid that he might be moving on.

Knowing that being cooped up in her condo all day was just going to make her freak out more, she gathered up her laptop and Nathan to head for the pool. That way she could socialize and just soak up some sun.

When she got down to the pool, she was surprised that nobody was at the poolside bar except the bartender. She let Nathan sit on the barstool next to her. She ordered herself a vodka tonic with a splash of cranberry juice. The bartender stayed quiet and made the drink, even setting out a bowl of water for Nathan on the deck. She hadn't anticipated that, but it was a nice gesture.

She decided that she was going to enjoy that drink thoroughly before going into work mode, so she left the laptop in her purse.

"Aww. Isn't that a cute puppy?" That voice was distinctively Lumi's. It was nice to see the go-go girl relaxing outside of the evening hours. She always liked Lumi. Lumi sat down next to Nathan so the puppy was between them. After Lumi gave her order to the bartender for a mixed drink, she leaned in and asked, "So, how's things going with you and PK?"

At first, Clarissa was surprised that Lumi knew about her relationship, but then she remembered they ran into her that first night. She laughed. "How do you remember me hanging out with PK but you don't remember Nathan?"

"Is that this little guy's name? Of course, I remember this little cutie." She paused giving the puppy love and gave Clarissa a stern look. "So, come on, give me the deets."

Clarissa shook her head. She'd been so lucky that most of her friends haven't tried to press her for information as if they were members of the Spanish Inquisition. Then again, with PK being out of town, it was so easy to keep their relationship on the down-low. But Lumi had seen them together. "Things were good, except I wish he wasn't playing hockey again."

Clarissa causally flipped over her phone to see if there were any new notifications from PK. She saw there was an Instagram notification for a message from a follower she didn't recognize, a Paddy K. She decided to ignore it since it was either going to be a guy trying to get into her pants or a troll. She wasn't in the mood to deal with either.

She flipped the phone over just as Lumi asked, "Got some place to be?"

Clarissa pocketed the phone so she could give Lumi her full attention. "Sorry. I'm dying for a message from PK, and there's been nothing the past few days."

"I take it he's ignoring your messages."
