He walked into the room with two bottles of water, running his gaze over her.

“This T-shirt is cute.”

“My sister gave it to me. One of her friends decided to make merchandise for the town. Surprisingly, the tourists love it. Although her man had to stop her from making a dildo in the shape of a wishbone and putting the town logo on it.”

“W-what?”

“Yep.”

“That could work as a clit tickler,” she suggested.

He groaned. “You are never allowed to meet Kiesha.”

She pouted, guessing that was the name of his sister’s friend. It wasn’t likely that she’d ever go to Wishingbone, but if she did, she might like to meet Kiesha.

“As nice as this T-shirt is, I don’t think I can go home wearing just this,” she pointed out.

He raised an eyebrow. “That’s okay since you’re not going home.”

She wasn’t?

Oh. He wanted her to stay.

“You look so surprised. I can’t believe you thought I was going to send you home after what just happened.”

Well, she hadn’t been sure. And she didn’t like to assume. Then she realized that he expected her to sleep here. Without her stuff.

Without Colin and her pacifier.

“But . . . but I don’t have a toothbrush,” she told him. “Sorry. Oral hygiene is very important to me. So I’ll just have to go home and come back another time to stay. Thanks for the offer of a sleepover, though.”

He reached past her and opened up a cupboard, pulling out a toothbrush still in its packaging.

“That’s very well-prepared.”

He gave her a knowing look. “I asked my housekeeper to get a new one for you. I don’t bring women back here. Ever.”

Great. So obviously he could read every thought on her face.

“I’m never going to be able to hide anything from you, am I?” she grumbled as he drew the towel off her head.

“And you’ll never try,” he said sternly. He took it from her and undid the packaging.

“What about girlfriends?” she asked as he put toothpaste on the brush.

Then he lifted her onto the counter and ran the water, putting the brush under it.

“I don’t have girlfriends.”

“Ever?” she asked in shock.

“Hmm. No, I had some girlfriends when I was younger. But not since I turned thirty, no.”

Wow.

“And I moved in here about four years ago. So no woman, other than my sister, housekeeper, Gwen, or Cat have ever been here.”

That made her feel ridiculously warm and fuzzy.
