“Monday’s a travel day?”

I nod.

“Next Wednesday good?”

“Perfect.”

Wednesday

“What do you mean, you can’t go?” Chloe asks as I scoop up Aggie and give her a giant hug.

“Aunt CeCe,” she squeals. “You come home for lunch?”

“Wednesday’s an early-out day.” I give her chubby little cheeks kisses, causing her to giggle. “So, yep, home for lunch. What would you like to eat?”

She throws her arms in the air, cheering, “More Yo-Bites!”

“Not happening, Miss Aggie. You’ve had plenty,” Chloe says, sitting on the arm of the couch.

She turns on my lap and holds her arms out wide. “But the box is this big, Mama.”

“That doesn’t mean you have to eat them all today.” Chloe smiles in amusement.

“Daddy say we go home soon.”

“How soon?” I ask Chloe.

“We’re flying out on Friday.” She pouts out her bottom lip and looks to Aggie. “I’m sure Aunt CeCe will have them still when we come back next month.”

Aggie looks at me for confirmation.

“They’ll still be here.”

“We gonna eat brisket again?”

I stand with her in my arms and swing her to my hip. “How about dinosaur nuggets? I bought a huge box of those.”

“Like the chicken kind?”

I nod.

“You gotta tell Daddy; he loves dinosaurs.”

I look around. “Where is your daddy?”

“He’s with our friend, Rome.”

I glance to Chloe, who holds her hands up.

“They’ve become buds.”

I narrow my eyes at her, and she smirks.

“Kind of like you and the neighbor have, yeah?”
