Before I could think too hard about it, I issued an invitation. "Would you like to see my room?"
Tyler's eyes widened. For a moment, I worried that I'd taken things too far too fast. I knew that the idea of intimacy with a man wasn't only about desire and lust for him. It presented a challenge to look at his entire life differently.
Next, he smiled, and my heart skipped a beat. "Yes, I'd love that."
On the ride up to my floor, Tyler tapped his fingers on the elevator wall behind him. I stood close, our shoulders touching, and inhaled the scent of his cologne that lingered on his blazer.
The click of the door to my room closing behind us sounded twice as loud as normal with the air of anticipation swirling around us. I took Tyler's elbow and encouraged him to follow me to the windows to look out over the marina and Lake Michigan beyond.
"What a view! I've never been up here before. You can even see the stars out there."
I tugged lightly to encourage him to face me while my heart pounded hard in my chest. When he turned, I stared into his deep, almost indigo, blue eyes while his chest rose and fell with quick, shallow breaths.
"Ronan, I've never… uh, never ever…"
I took a half step closer to eliminate the distance between us. My heart hammered in my chest as I turned to face Tyler. His eyes, usually a clear blue, had darkened to the color of a stormy sea.
He stuttered. "I d… don't know… I've not…"
I cut the words off with a kiss and then pulled back briefly. Raising my hand to cup his cheek, I wanted to give him the opportunity to say no and pull away.
"We don't have to do anything you're not comfortable with," I assured him, my thumb tracing the line of his jaw. "We can take this as slow as you need."
Tyler leaned into my touch, and his eyes fluttered closed for a moment. When he opened them again, he took a deep breath.
"I want this," he said, his voice stronger. "I want you. I'm just... nervous, I guess."
"It's okay to be nervous. I am too."
His eyebrows shot up in surprise. "You are? Why are you nervous?"
I chuckled. "Because this... what's between us... it's special. I don't want to mess it up. You're so different from any random guy I met on a cellphone app."
A smile tugged at the corners of Tyler's mouth. He raised his hand, mirroring my gesture, his palm warm against my cheek. "I don't think you could mess this up if you tried."
After another pause, Tyler leaned in toward me. His lips met mine in a kiss that started gentle but quickly blazed into something more intense.
I lost myself in him, the taste of wine still lingering on his tongue, as his muscular body pressed against me. My hands found their way to his waist, slipping beneath his jacket to feel the heat of his skin through his shirt.
Tyler's fingers tangled in my hair, tugging gently as he deepened the kiss. I moaned long and low. The sound appeared to ignite something in him. He pressed closer, walking me backwards until my back hit the wall.
We broke apart, both gasping for air. Tyler's eyes were wide, his pupils dilated, and his lips were swollen from our kisses. I'd never been that close to a more handsome man.
"Is this okay?" he asked.
In response, I surged forward, capturing his lips again. My hands slid up his chest, pushing his jacket off his shoulders. It fell to the floor with a soft thud, quickly forgotten.
Tyler's fingers fumbled with the buttons of my shirt, unexpectedly clumsy for such an athletic man. I couldn't help but smile against his lips, charmed by his enthusiasm.
"Here," I murmured, gently moving his hands aside. "Let me."
I made quick work of my buttons, shrugging off my shirt. Tyler looked over my exposed chest, his Adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed hard.
"You're gorgeous," he breathed, reaching out to trace the lines of my collarbone.
His touch sent shivers down my spine. "So are you," I replied, tugging at the hem of his shirt. "May I?"
He nodded, and I pulled the shirt off over his head, revealing the toned athletic physique I could only imagine until that moment. I showered his chest in kisses.
