I flashed him a dark glare. “What are you, ten? I don’t like her.”

He moved the ice pack carefully over his lip and rolled his eyes. “Fine. Whatever you need to believe. Let’s just say… she’s yours to fuck with and only yours?”

I nodded. Yes. Exactly that, and no one had better get in my way.

The party was in full swing an hour later when Winter walked in, her arm entwined with my sister’s. Eve scanned the room and saw me, her expression turning furious.

She patted Winter’s hand and left her just inside the door, storming in my direction.

“What the hell, Ash?” Eve demanded, stopping in front of me and glaring. “You can’t just leave a girl tied up and naked from the waist down in a public place to be found by whoever.”

“But she wasn’t found by whoever…she was found by you,” I pointed out.

“Yeah, because you texted me to go and get her. What are you playing at?”

I just shrugged. “It’s not your problem, Evie, don’t worry about it.” I never intended to leave Winter to be discovered by the team, tied up and without pants. Of course not. That was a privileged sight and none of those fuckers deserved it.

“I do worry about it! You’re being such a bastard. I thought she was your girlfriend now? Thanks for the heads-up, by the way. I love hearing who my brother is dating from campus gossip.”

“Considering you’re practically engaged to my best friend, who you hooked up with behind my back, I would take that outrage down a notch or ten.” I took a long swig of beer and jerked my head in Winter’s direction.

She’d changed into clothes that didn’t look like her at all. I’d bet she’d hung out with Eve and borrowed something to wear. Winter was much taller than my twin sister, and the dress she had on now was indecently short on her. She was leaning over the kitchen counter, and a flock of hockey players had quickly gathered around her. The sight of her flock of admirers pissed me off immediately.

“Why the fuck did you bring her?” I growled at my sister.

“Why not? You’re not king of the Hellions’ dorm. If anything, I was here first, and I’ll invite whoever I want. I was hardly just going to send her home alone, after whatever that was that happened between you two.”

“Fine, do what you want. But if you really want to be there for Winter, just be her friend. She doesn’t have many,” I tossed to Eve, and wandered away. I didn’t need my sister grating on my nerves about the morality of messing with Winter, when she’d been living with my best friend for weeks without uttering a peep about it.

Winter was drawing pathetic guys to her like flies to honey. It was hardly a surprise. She was the hottest girl on campus. The only thing that had kept her from being a constant target was her aloof attitude. She caught my dark look, and pasted on a warm smile, turning the power of her allure up by about a million percent. She’d dropped the icy unapproachable act to fuck with me, and it was working.

Now she was smiling at guys, talking to them, and they were falling over themselves for a speck of her attention. Fucking losers. Considering everyone who’d been at the rink thought she was my girlfriend, they were being fucking rude fawning over her like that. Well, at least I knew who the assholes were now, the ones with no respect.

I considered going back to my apartment upstairs, but I couldn’t bring myself to. Instead, I found a quiet corner to brood in, where I had an uninterrupted view of Winter and her coterie of admirers.

I didn’t move from there until some idiot suggested a game. The fucking worst thing about college was the goddamn drinking games. Though, I had to admit, they’d never really bothered me until my own game with Winter had started.

People split off into pairs. Winter had about five invitations at once. Good thing I was right there, looming over her shoulder and scaring away any potentially interested parties.

“What?” she snapped and looked up at me. “Don’t tell me you have more to say?”

“You think I’m going to let the girl everyone thinks is my girlfriend play Fire Truck with someone else?”

A pulse beat in her neck. It was strange to think I’d once found her so unreadable. Now, her emotions seemed clear as day, even though her ice-queen poker face hadn’t changed.

“I thought you didn’t want anything to do with me, remember? Which means I need to find someone else to help me, ASAP. So, run along.” She wriggled her fingers like she was shooing me away.

Considering I’d just tied her up and left her pants-less for the team to find, she had balls.

“You do need to find someone else, but for tonight, since you flashed my jersey all around the rink, you’re mine. I don’t let anyone else touch what’s mine.”

She narrowed her eyes at me. “How very caveman of you.”

“Got that right, now get a move on and follow me, before I club you over the head and drag you out of here by your hair…caveman style.”

She flushed but straightened, not doubting for a moment that I’d do it. Good. She was learning.

I led the way through the apartment to one of the bedrooms. The apartment was so full, there were people everywhere, but this room was the quietest.
