Page 36 of Lycan Rejected

Fated mates were something to cherish. That was someone the Moon Goddess designed explicitly for another. He had seen many paired with their Fated Mate all his life. It was a beautiful thing to witness. Every time he had seen it happen before him, it was as if the world fell away, and they were the only people in the room. They would always have a look of astonishment on their faces at first and then pure love.

That wasn't like what he experienced with Remy.

He wasn't sure when, but he must have touched her at that party. That was how Lycans were able to find their Fated Mate. Once they briefly touched, the connection would be forged. As he replayed the events of that party, he tried to recall when he would have touched her. There was one moment that would make sense. When those rogues came into the territory. The whole room broke out into chaos. Many pack members ran toward their homes to check on their children or were too weak to fight against those who invaded. Everyone was bumping into others to get out of the room, so that could be when they touched.

The bond was forged, but he would not ask Lykos for an extension on their stay to figure out who. After their fight in the hallway, Lykos wouldn't have been kind to that request. That was his first mistake. Allowing his anger to get the best of him that night was why Remy walked out that door. She had been a witness to it and saw him losing control of himself. If he hadn't allowed that to happen, he would have been able to request to stay and meet with every non-mated woman in the pack. Myles would have been able to meet Remy before she met the other, and he would have had her to himself.

I saw him in the crowd unless he met her there, too.

He let out an exasperated sigh and leaned back in his chair. The speculation of the entire situation would drive him mad if he didn't get a grip on himself. A knock on his door brought him out of his thoughts, and he told them to come in. Asher poked his head inside with his eyebrows raised. That was usually the signal that Myles allowed his mood to seep into the pack bonds. It was never a good idea for Lycans to feel the weight of their Alpha's burden. That would make them rush to assist him or make the enthusiastic ones think they could challenge him. Neither option sounded like a good idea right now, so Myles shut down his portion of the bond so no one else would notice his prissy mood.

"Girl trouble?"

Myles grunted. "I doubt you read that through the bond."

Asher laughed as he stepped inside the room and shut the door behind him. "No. I deduced that something was off from that young Luna walking out your door and then the weight of your anger in the bonds. Did she do something to piss you off?"

It was difficult to know what to tell his Beta. Did he want to explain that she was his mate and break the silent agreement with Remy to talk about it? Their bond was severed, so she would have no way to find out unless Asher went after her and told her what Myles told him.

"She was fated to me. I smelled another on her. I won't be sharing with another. I rejected her."

Asher lifted an eyebrow at him. "You rejected your Fated Mate?"

Myles nodded while staring at the wall. Now that he said it out loud, he understood why Asher was confused. It was stupid to reject a Fated Mate. It made the pack bonds stronger; it made the pack less agitated. Having a Fated Mate as an Alpha meant a lot. It was a blessing from the Moon Goddess, and he rejected it.

But I did it for a reason.

"I think you forgot. I said she smelled like another. She is close to completing a bond with another Alpha."

Asher walked in and sat down in the chair Remy vacated. He kept his confused look but had a hint of a smile behind it. Asher was like that. He was generally a laid-back, kind person. Unless he was royally pissed off. Right now, it amused him to see his Alpha and friend annoyed. It must have amused him even more to know a girl was behind it.

"So, your Fated Mate walked through that door and smelled of another Alpha, so you rejected her? Fated trumps Chosen, my friend, in case you forgot that tidbit."

Myles grunted at him. "It was another Fated bond."

Both eyebrows were in the center of his forehead now. "That's not possible."

"That's what I said." Myles said with a groan. "I don't know what the Moon Goddess is playing here, but she allowed a female to have two fated mates. That is unheard of."

Asher looked down at the desk so the Lycan inside of Myles wouldn't think Asher was challenging him. Lycans could easily take eye contact as a challenge if it is held for too long. The information transfixed Asher, and they nearly forgot about that. But he was also looking around as if an idea were running through his head. Did he know how Remy would be given multiple mates? Myles wouldn't put it past him. Asher has been around for some time. He would know more than Myles about this kind of thing.

"She is an Alpha herself, right?"

"Yes, but no other Alpha female has been given multiple mates as far as I am aware."

"What if she is special?"

Myles lifted his eyebrow this time. "What do you mean?"

Asher looked at the map of the five kingdoms. Myles looked over as well, but the answer to his question wasn't there from what he could see.

"Have you heard about the Dragon Kingdom now being ruled by a Plasma Dragon?"

"What is a Plasma Dragon?"

Asher shook his head. "A Dragon type that was thought to be extinct has now made its debut again. A young woman around Luna's age emerged as a Plasma. A Plasma tends to have five mates, one for each dragon type. She recently has taken over the kingdom."

"Gemar is gone? What happened there?"
