… Then, his hand cups the back of my head.

Pulling me into him, Leo kisses me back with the same passion that made me fall for him in the first place.

All I can do is melt into his body.

“You’re alive…” I gently sob into his mouth, in between his heart-starting kisses.

“We made it, Sophia,” he whispers. Holding onto me for dear life, he kisses me again, like he’s just trying to make sure that I’m real; that this is real.

It is.

“I thought I lost you,” I choke.

“Never,” he says, his voice deep and labored. “You can’t get rid of me that easily.”

He smiles and those dimples somehow shine through all of the blood and darkness and pain.

“Thank you,” I whisper, going to kiss him again.

He stops me, and those deep blue eyes stare straight into my soul.

“I love you,” he says.

Just like that everything else disappears. Nothing else matters. Nothing but the two of us.

“I love you too,” I cry.

I love him so fucking much.

“I made you some breakfast.”

Sophia’s soft voice wakes me up so gently. It hardly matters that I’m still in pain, when she sits down on the bed next to me, steaming tray of bacon and eggs and pancakes in hand, I might as well be floating.

“Thank you, babe,” I say, sitting up so that I can give her a kiss on the forehead. “How are you feeling?”

“Better than you,” she smirks.

“Oh, is this some type of recovery competition?” I smile back.

“No,” she shakes her head. “Not a competition. I’ve been wiping the floor with your shattered ass. I’d hardly call that a competition.”

“Maybe I should have let you break my fall,” I tease. Leaving my breakfast for a little while longer, I slip my hand behind’s Sophia’s head and pull her in for a kiss.

“At least you can still kiss pretty good,” she whispers, when our lips drift apart again.

“Better than you,” I playfully jab.

That gets her going. Jumping back off the bed, my cheery princess smiles down at me, a chestnut fire blazing in her pretty eyes.

“I think we might need to have a kissing competition to figure out who’s a better kisser.”

“You don’t think we’ve kissed enough over the past two weeks?”

“Is it ever enough?”
