Page 92 of Decker's Dilemma

Rhett stares up at his new opponent, up and fucking up because he’s so tall and wide, but props to Rhett—he doesn’t show any fear or hesitation. He just puts his hands up and gets ready to fight.

“I can’t look,” I hear Cara whisper, and Clover hugs her tightly.

“We’re all going to get our asses kicked today, aren’t we?” Felix mutters from beside me.

“None of us knew he had the Hulk as his sidekick. Neither did we know we’d have to fight.” I mean, damn, I would have done some better preparation if I knew about it. But we are here now, and we have to do whatever we need to do to get out of here with the women untouched, and all of our limbs still in place.

“Do you think they call him Stalk because he’s as tall as a fucking beanstalk?” I hear Clover ask Cara.

Rhett and Stalk start their round in the ring, and I watch his moves. Just like I thought, Stalk might be strong but he’s slower than Rhett, and I notice him favoring his right leg instead of his left. I suspect he might have a bad knee, and that’s the first spot I’m going to go for when I end up against him.

“Clover, there’s no way in hell you are getting in that ring,” Felix says, shaking his head. Clover stays quiet, probably realizing that even she is in over her head with this one.

“I won’t let her do anything stupid,” Cara promises us.

Rhett punches Stalk in the gut, but he doesn’t even flinch, like he didn’t even feel it.

“What the fuck,” Felix groans, then turns to me. “I could call in the cops for backup. Get these fuckers arrested.”

“How the hell are we going to explain us being here?” I ask, keeping my tone low. “And what will we have them arrested for? Nothing that would hold.”

“I don’t know, but any plan sounds better than fighting that guy.”

He’s not wrong.

The women cry out, and I turn back to the ring to see Rhett on all fours, blood pouring from his likely broken nose. All it took was one hit to get him to his knees, and I can’t imagine how hard that hit would have been.

“We can’t let him take another hit,” I say.

“I know, but what happens when we go down?” Felix asks.

“I guess we’re about to find out,” I mutter. I pull off my T-shirt and step into the ring, behind Rhett. “Tag me in.”

“No,” he replies, spitting out blood. “This is my mess, I finish it.”

“You’ll die,” I say, bending down next to him. “Tag me in, Rhett. Don’t be an idiot.”

He shakes his head and stands back up, stretching his neck from side to side. He is obviously a stubborn, prideful asshole, and I totally see where he is coming from, but right now, I need to save him from himself. He doesn’t need to do this. We might not be friends, but we are on the same side, and Cara cares about him. That means something to me, and I’m not going to allow him to take a damn beating in front of her.

Marko, who obviously wants Rhett to stay in the ring to get the shit kicked out of him, starts to egg him on. “What’s wrong, Rhett? Can’t handle it? Going to get your ex’s new boyfriend to handle shit for you? Maybe she did the right thing by trading up?”

Fucking low blow.

I’m fuming by this point. “Just like you couldn’t finish fighting Rhett yourself? You had to have your fucking Hagrid here step in for you. Rhett is more of a man than you will ever be, so shut the fuck up.”

There is dead silence for a few moments.

My sister always said that my big mouth was going to get me into trouble one day, and it looks like right now is going to be that time.

Rhett looks over at me in surprise. “What the fuck are you doing? You really think you can fight this guy?” His nose is broken and there’s blood covering his chest. I wouldn’t be surprised if his ribs were also broken. He’s not in good shape, but he’s pretending like he’s fine.

“I don’t know but we’re about to find out.”

I offer him my hand, and he tags it.

I didn’t wake up this morning planning on some WWE shit, but here I am.

Helping save the man that the woman I love also loves.
