The way she felt around him, the way her body flowed against him, the way she gasped his name—it all filled his soul. She wound tighter and tighter as he pushed into her. He thought he’d last longer the second round, but too quickly was struggling to hold his climax back. He unwound her legs, forcing them down so he could angle higher on his next thrust.

Beatrice sucked in a breath.

“That’s my good girl,” he said, stroking right over her G-spot. “I love you, Bea.” He lowered his face to her breasts, biting her nipple this time as he thrust. Her orgasm slid through her, squeezing him as he let his own take control.

He’d been shallower this time, but there was something so satisfying in watching his cum leak out of her after. Beatrice was exhausted. He lifted her in his arms to carry her to the bathroom to clean up.

Her head pressed against his chest, and she gave him a brush of her lips. “Love you,” she mumbled, and he hugged her tighter, more contentment than he ever thought possible running through him.

Chapter 30

Beatrice scooted closer to Montrell as Giulia served the dessert. They’d invited the Di Salvos to the restaurant. Nera finished telling Beatrice about her first visit there, and her head rested on Giovanni’s shoulder as she yawned.

His hand lowered beneath the table, likely resting on her stomach. Nera’s pregnancy had grown much more obvious. The way her hand followed his, as if to rest over it, gave Beatrice a stab of envy.

She’d gotten her period last week. She’d been disappointed, but Montrell hadn’t seemed to be. He’d told her she was more than enough and that enjoying being just the two of them for now was a gift.

Well, the three of them. Vespa hovered by his shoulder, trying hard to pretend Antonio wasn’t in the room.

She noticed his presence too much to be convincing. Besides, she was as bad of a liar as Montrell. They both wore their hearts on their sleeves. Beatrice had seen Antonio follow Vespa into the hallway earlier and would try to get her to open up about it later. She still didn’t fully understand Montrell’s best friend, but she liked her and was thankful Vespa had always been there for him.

They’d invited Luka, as a way to thank him, but he didn’t like crowds. They’d set the plates for him and his partner, Alina, in the kitchen.

Giulia paused by Montrell’s chair. “I like your other new friends as well,” she told him. “They’re another love match.” She grinned at Beatrice and nodded at Nera before heading to the back.

Montrell’s smile spread. “Guess that means your pet assassin enjoyed dinner,” he said.

Nera smiled. “Luka likes to eat.” Her smile fell as she stared down at the table. “He and Alina haven’t always had things easy.”

Vespa stiffened as she glared out the window.

“Feeling guilty again?” Antonio asked, and her scowl only deepened.

“I didn’t mean recently.” Nera’s hand remained on her stomach. “Neither had happy childhoods. Though that seems common in this way of life.”

Giovanni turned his face to kiss her cheek. “Happy childhoods aren’t common, but they’re not impossible.”

“Don’t worry, Nera,” Antonio said, his eyes matching his smile for once. “Enzo and Tommaso are going to spoil that baby rotten.”

“And we’ll continue making this way of life better,” Montrell added.

They’d already talked about business. There were some questions on the horizon. Montrell might have been right in what he’d said after the initial meeting of the families. Things wouldn’t be better until the mindset of some that were still in power was wiped out completely.

“And remember, the Coronellas will make good on what we owe.” His fingers linked with Beatrice’s on top of the table. “And not just for the recent support. For everything.”

Antonio smiled. “My instincts are always spot-on.”

Vespa snorted, but her lips curved up.

As they finished dessert, Beatrice realized it felt good to have people that seemed almost like friends.

Her life had changed. As she continued to figure out what she wanted, it would change even more.

Montrell was encouraging her in the best of ways, and not only in the bedroom. Being his consigliere was fulfilling in a way she had only imagined, but she was also going to explore other things. Like driving a car, something no one had ever allowed her to do.

She didn’t need permission anymore. All she needed to do was want something and reach for it.

She turned to her husband and kissed him right on the lips.
