“Hey, if you are not in a hurry to leave, we could have drinks.”

She seems hesitant for a moment, and then she gives a nod. “Yeah, sure. The night is still young, anyway.”

“Great, shall we then?” I point her in the direction of the bar.

We make our way to a cocktail table and take seats close together, the coconut scent of her shampoo invading my senses.

The bartender comes to take our orders. I get a scotch on the rocks, and she goes for a dirty martini.

As we wait, I pause and observe Jessica. Her features are delicate, with captivating eyes that seem to hold mischief. There’s a subtle grace to the way she carries herself.

Her hair, a rich chestnut brown, falls in loose waves on her shoulders. It frames her face, accentuating her traits.

“Mind if I ask what you’re doing here? You don’t look like the type to frequent a place like this,” she says as our drinks arrive.

“What makes you think that? What’s wrong with a pub like this?” My interest is piqued in a good way.

She shrugs. “I dunno…you just seem like the kind of man who would go to more fancy places.”

I glance around. “Is this place not sophisticated enough? So, does that mean you only came here for a particular reason and wouldn’t normally opt for this kind of venue?”

A grin appears on her face. “I see what you did there.”

I feign ignorance. “What did I do?”

She rolls her eyes as she takes a sip of her drink, slowly shaking her head.

“So, what brings you here?” I ask.

“I came here to celebrate with my best friend, but she had to leave abruptly because her boyfriend had an emergency.”

“Oh, sorry to hear that. What were you guys celebrating?”

“Well, I just got a new job after weeks of endlessly looking for one and several rejections.”

“That’s good news. Congratulations.” I raise my glass to hers for a toast.

“Thanks.”

As the night passes, I find myself engrossed in conversation with Jessica. It’s surprising how we both talk like we’ve known each other for a very long time.

Time seems to slip away, the hours passing unnoticed as we discuss everything from our favorite books to our most embarrassing moments.

There’s a certain ease to our banter, a connection that surprises me. Jessica’s wit and humor is a delightful surprise, making the evening far more enjoyable than I had anticipated.

I just purchased this place a month ago, and I came to see how things were going and the changes that needed to be made. I didn’t expect to run into the same woman who had occupied my thoughts for a part of the day.

When she collided with me this morning, I felt something strange inside stir me.

I was having a terrible day when she bumped into me, and I should have been angry that she wasn’t looking at where she was going, but for some reason, I was not. Instead, I felt good about it. I liked her bumping into me. How weird is that?

As I sit beside her, watching her speak, it’s hard to concentrate on what she’s talking about as I’m distracted by her beauty.

The coconut scent of her hair shampoo continues to tease my senses, and the more we talk, the more intriguing I find her.

“Do you want to continue our conversation elsewhere?” I ask.

Jessica looks thoughtful for a moment before a playful smile graces her lips. “Sure, why not?”
