What the fuck is wrong with him? And what is this obsession with Sofia anyway?
I will let him have this one. He doesn’t have to know I already found a way to tweak the alliance. I won’t marry Sofia, but he sure as hell won’t see me coming.
“Where is she?” I play his stupid game to see just how low he is willing to stoop.
“I sent you a text, Prince Charming,” he snorts. “Do whatever you want with it.” He ends the call before I get a chance to reply.
“What does he want?” Liam asks.
“For me to go get Olivia as long as I promise not to marry Sofia Ferreri.” I find the text message and see the address of the place he wants me to go to. “I have the address,” I flash him my phone.
“So we are going there?” Liam clasps his seat belt and braces for another mad drive.
“Yes, but not without a plan,” I turn on the car, “I will need Cesare in on this.”
“Ronan Gallagher is not acting on impulse even after knowing where to go?” Liam chuckles.
“He gave me a time to show up, I have play by the rules if I want to see her alive.” As much as I’m itching to show up there and get her back, I need to be smart about it.
“So this is the day you grow up?” He holds his chest like it hurts.
“Fuck off,” I make sure to do a turn so swiftly it throws him to the side.
Serves him fucking right.
Chapter Thirty
OLIVIA
This container has been hanging in the air for a while now, held up by a crane.
I’m sure of it because I’m dangling, and I can hear loud noises, of heavy-duty machines.
I try to breathe as much as possible to help maintain my cool, but I doubt anything other than getting out of here will work.
I feel sick, but I can’t throw up because my mouth is taped and I will choke on my own puke. I feel dizzy.
I want to get out before they ship me to another country and traffic me for sex. I have seen movies.
They are the bad people, these men.
I need more air.
I will die. They want to kill me, like they killed Barbara, but in my case, no one will know.
I start to scream, the fear twining around my head, infecting every one of my senses. I can’t let them win. I will not go down without a fight.
I keep screaming the higher the container goes, thrashing and hitting my feet against it. I don’t know what I’m doing, but I need out before they put me on board and no one knows where they’ve taken me to.
My heart breaks at the thought that I will never see Ronan again. That I only just got him back and now I’m losing him in the worst way possible.
Tears sting my eyes for the life I will never have.
I keep taking heavy breaths of air until I feel the container easing down and then steadying.
Then the door opens, and it bangs against the body of the container. I would have lost my feet if I had been kicking the door like the last time.
I wait for the person to come in, straining to see who it is. Soon, the Evil Nerd steps into the container, and the space shrinks.
