Jud followed her and kept adjusting their positions until he had her stretched out on top of him. Then he settled and cupped her ass cheek that wasn’t still painful. “So, let’s just do that every day for the rest of our lives and we should be good.”
I watched them and felt a feeling of contentment settle in me bone deep. “This is how it’s supposed to be. You were meant to be with us, Ada.”
She turned her head so she could smile up at me. “Duh.”
Jud lightly slapped her ass. “So much sass from a woman who just screamed for us loud enough to wake the fucking dead.”
Her cheeks turned deep red. “It wasn’t that loud.”
“It was that loud.” Collin confirmed. “Best way to suffer hearing loss, though.”
“Amen to that.” I smirked at Ada and sank my teeth into my bottom lip. “We’re going to need a gag when we go on vacation. You’d traumatize the kids.”
“I’ve got the perfect gag.” Jud laughed as Ada sat up on top of him and playfully smacked his chest.
Her smile faded slowly as she looked at the three of us. “I don’t know how you guys stole my heart, but you did. For three grumpy jerks, you sure are big-hearted softies for me.”
Collin sighed. “Say that in front of anyone else and I’ll be forced to bend you over and spank that perfect ass to keep up my image.”
“Such a softie.” Her smile stretched wider. “You know there are no stipulations about these hearts. And just like I kept the glass one, I’m keeping these.”
Collin bent down and scooped Ada into his arms. He kissed her slowly, dragging it out until they had to part for a breath. “I trust you with them.”
Ada curled up on his lap and pressed her feet under my thigh. I watched her stretch her hand down to capture Jud’s. “I love you guys so much. Thank you for getting me fired on the day I caught my boyfriend cheating on me. Your timing was somehow the worst and the best all at once.”
“You’re welcome?” I grinned at her before pulling one of her feet into my lap so I could rub it. “I love you, too, Ada. Thank you for being the biggest pain in the ass ever and letting me know that I was being a shitty dad.”
“Anytime.”
“I love you.” Collin kissed the side of her head. “Thank you for locking me in a room for an entire day and making me crazy enough to go shoe shopping for you.”
“Honestly, it was my pleasure.”
Jud sat up and knelt in front of the couch. “I loved you first, Ada, and I’m never going to let these two forget it. Thank you for proving to them for once and for all that I’m the smart brother. If only they’d done what I wanted a decade ago and launched a full scale manhunt for the sweet girl at the fair who gave me her first kiss.”
“They’re slow learners.” Ada looked at Collin’s face and then mine. “I think part of the reason it was so easy to forgive you two was because you look so pitiful. Your poor faces.”
“I’ve never been so happy to have a pitiful face.” I snagged her arm and pulled her into my lap. “One day soon, we’re going to ask you for more.”
“What the hell else is there? I only have so many holes, Joe!”
I closed my eyes and shook my head, fighting a laugh. “I meant in our relationship, Ada. More as in something legal, something binding. Maybe even something that screams us awake in the middle of the night for the first years of its life.”
She giggled. “Oh, okay. Yeah. Sure. That sounds much less painful than exploring other holes sexually.”
“Let’s perfect these holes first and go from there.” I lowered my mouth to hers and smiled into the kiss. She was nuts and I’d known it from the start. I’d known she was going to shake everything up. I just hadn’t counted on it ending up being the best thing that ever could’ve happened to my family.

I sat in Joe’s lap in his office as we watched the live coverage of David Mayhew’s trial on his computer. Jud was painting in the corner of the room, something he did more and more often those days. Collin was pacing in front of the desk, running his hands through his hair as he muttered about what an asshole Mayhew was.
Joe absently stroked my inner thigh and grunted when the camera panned to David. “Poor sonofabitch. All he had to do was leave you the fuck alone. He never saw you coming.”
