My men stepped from behind trees, pointing their weapons at Duke and his bodyguard.

I threw a hand in the air. “Thanks everyone. I got it from here.”

They nodded.

“We got it,” Kennedy stated, trudging through the grass, dressed in camouflage gear, with her AR-fifteen at her side.

She looked fucking hot.

“Kennedy, you’re an excellent shot.” I grinned.

“Thank you.” She blew me a kiss.

I splayed a gloved hand over my lips, pondering on that day at Quinn’s restaurant. “This scene makes me question what happened the day we met. I gave you a gun. Did you shoot anyone?”

She shrugged. “I wounded a couple of his men. If I wanted to, I could’ve taken Duke and his men out. But I didn’t know what was going on, so I didn’t shoot to kill.”

I pulled her close, kissing her lips. “Damn, everything you do turns me on.”

“Tonight, we’re consummating our marriage,” she moaned.

A brisk breeze swept through us.

“Yes, we are,” I stated.

I met Duke’s wide-eyed gaze.

“You married my ex-girlfriend?” He asked, like the thought was so unimaginable.

Ettore zip tied the bodyguard while Clip kept his rifle trained on Duke.

“What can I say? Clearly, I have a thing for beautiful snarky women.”

“Not women, Franco. One woman,” she bit out.

“My mistake, sweetheart. Of course, it’s one woman. No other woman could break me down the way you did while you were my captive.”

She nodded as a flirtatious grin lifted her lips.

We turned our attention back to the fucker on the ground.

“Duke, this is the end of the line for you,” I stated. “Everyone you sent to kill me is dead.”

“Except for my cousin Quinn.” Kennedy smiled sweetly.

Duke sat up. “Your cousin?”

“Yes. He changed his last name when he moved to Portland, so no one would know we were related. His father persuaded you to leave me alone. You know, after I told you I didn’t want to be with you anymore. I could’ve disappeared.” She inched closer to him.

“But instead, I called in a favor that almost cost me my life. I had to perform a dangerous drug transaction to keep you out of my life.”

He winced, holding his bloody hand close. “Your father paid me a visit.”

Her eyes widened. “What?”

“Yeah, he said you were taking his throne soon, and I was not to impede, or we’d be at war.” His eyes darkened. “I loved that tight little pussy and the way your eyes rolled into the back of your head when I choked you.”

My fist curled at my side, but I didn’t move. Kennedy had the floor. I’d get my time with the bastard.
