“Zander, are we still hooking up later?”
“Someone wants your attention badly,” Vicky bit out. Her arms crossed her chest.
“Yup, Becca wants to know if we are hooking up later.”
“Why haven’t you answered her?”
“Because I’m spending time with you.”
She stared at the lake.

Vicky straightened her back and peeked at me.
“Only if we do this on my terms.”
She slouched in the chair, adjusting the yellow halter dress over her breasts. “What the fuck are your terms?” she hissed.
“First, stop calling me wolf boy. The name is annoying. Second, we will date.”
“Wait, date? Exclusively?”
“Yes, tell those assholes you’re dating that you are off limits.”
“I’m not agreeing to be your girlfriend.”
“You couldn’t handle being my girlfriend. This is the deal. We date and at the end of the summer before I go off to college, I’ll give you what you want. Don’t ever ask me to forget you.”
She gripped my arm gently. “Why do you like me so much?”
Her eyes flashed a hint of concern.
I removed my sunglasses. “Because you are special. The girl on the bed deep in a conversation with her friend. You smiled so wide that day. Vicky, you captured my heart. You’ve fascinated me ever since. Come here.”
She snatched her hand back. “No.”
“Now, Vicky.”
She grimaced and stood. I grabbed her hand. She hiked up her dress with her free hand and slid into my lap.
“Do you have any idea what I’m missing out on to spend time with you this summer?”
Her eyebrows wrinkled. “Who said I agreed?”
My fingers caressed her porcelain face and our eyes locked.
