“My wife is not sleeping in another room from me,” he declares.

I roll my eyes. “We all know I’m not your wife.”

Alessandro holds his hand to his chest. “You wound me, princess. From what I’ve heard, our love was so big we couldn’t contain it anymore. That we’ve both never been happier. That we can’t wait to start our lives together.”

He doesn’t need to throw my words back at me, I know what I said.

“I can’t thank you enough for doing this. Wish I’d thought of it sooner. I’m going to make your life a living hell, just like you told me you would. Game on, princess,” he warns before turning and heading out the door, slamming it behind him.

Asshole.

What have I done?

ALESSANDRO

What the hell just happened?

How am I now living with Natalia Fiorenzo?

Does her family really know she’s here or is she lying to me?

Can’t imagine they would think this is a good idea. I’m expecting her brothers to walk through my doors at any moment and lay into me for taking advantage of their sister. I’m surprised by her, by all of this really. I didn’t think she had it in her, but I’m kind of glad she’s willing to fight me on this, even though she’s so far out of her depth. I didn’t think she had a devious bone in her body, but I guess I’m wrong. It’s cute that she thought moving into my home would have me signing the annulment paperwork. Princess, this is what I do for a living. I’ve been trained by the most ruthless businessman in Italy. This ploy is like schoolyard games, and the fact your family thinks it would be that simple is an insult. I’m not swayed by a pretty face or by being uncomfortable, I wear that mask every day, thanks to my father. But her, on the other hand, I can’t imagine she’s ever had to feel uncomfortable. Over the years, I’ve seen and heard what people say about her, it’s all good which is surprising. They say she’s all sunshine and goodness wrapped up in a body worthy of sin. Maybe I need a little sunshine in my life, even if it’s for a fleeting moment, something to keep my humanity in check till this deal is done.

Till I’ve won.

Because I will win.

Natalia won’t break me.

I’m going to have so much fun breaking her.

“Andro, hey.” Nico’s voice surprises me, pulling me from my thoughts. “You looked a million miles away, you good?” he asks.

I burst out laughing, and my oldest friend looks at me as if I’ve lost my mind. “You’re never going to guess what’s happened?”

Nico shrugs, asking me to continue.

“Natalia Fiorenzo’s just moved in with me.”

“I’m sorry, what did you say? Natalia moved in with you?” He looks around the empty living area.

“She’s upstairs in my room unpacking or destroying it. I’m not sure, it could go either way,” I tell him.

He looks at me, dumbfounded. “Do I want to know how the fuck this happened?”

I hold up my hands. “Wasn’t my idea.”

Nico shakes his head. “She came up with this on her own?” I nod. “Has she lost her mind? Her family wouldn’t do this to her, it’s like a lamb coming into the lion’s den.”

“She thought declaring her undying love for me to the world, then bringing the paparazzi to my home, showing them her moving in, that the humiliation or the embarrassment would make me sign the papers. That she would make me uncomfortable. She has no idea how uncomfortable I’m about to make her life.”

Nico laughs. “To be fair, it’s ballsy.”

“It is. Also, did you know that she’s friends with Francesca?” I ask him. He shakes his head. I didn’t think he did. “They worked together on this Romeo and Juliet PR stunt. I don’t know what else they have planned.”

Nico’s eyes widen. “Had no idea. Want me to can whatever it is for you?” he asks.
