“I’m not okay with what he did but did you have to bash his head in?”

Catalina smirked,

“I would have preferred to stab him.”

She would have. I knew if she had any kind of weapon on her she would have stabbed him and we would be having this conversation inside of a jail cell.

“You can’t just go around and stab whoever you please.”

Catalina stood,

“I can do whatever I please,” she said as she rushed down the hall back to her room,

“CATALINA!” I yelled as the sound of her door slamming shut echoed throughout the house.

Way to fucking go Gabriel.

I sat back down in my chair. I knew raising my voice at her wouldn’t help. Yelling at Catalina got you virtually nowhere, Yelling at Catalina when she was drunk? Well, I had better luck trying to convince people the earth was flat. Truthfully, What she did wasn’t all that bad. She defended someone who needed help and it got a little out of hand. Yes, something bad could have happened but she was helping. In her own way, she was trying to help and she did. Because of her Delancy was safe and out of an abusive relationship and would have protection for the next few months, and the ex was certainly going to think twice before putting his hands on another person.

Whatever it’s over and done with.

I wouldn’t spend another moment thinking about it. Catalina was home and she was safe. Delancy and her ex were taken care of and everything was going to be okay. At least I had hoped so.

1 Month Later

The house was quiet. A little too quiet. Catalina had arrived earlier with a… male friend, the two of them had rushed quickly back to her room and I was smart enough to put two and two together and decided I didn’t want to hear or even think about what was going to happen in that room so I left. I figured two hours was enough time. Right? Yet it was too quiet.

“Catalina?” I called out hoping to hear her, even if she was yelling at me to go away.

Silence.

Maybe she’s asleep?

I dropped my keys off on the kitchen island,

“Catalina?” I called out again.

Silence.

Something isn’t right.

I rushed over to her door. The sound of my heart beating inside of my chest was the only thing I could hear as I rushed down the hall. Her door was open. She never left that door open. I pushed the door open, my eyes falling on the small body that lay on the ground in a pool of blood.

“CATALINA!”

I rushed towards her. Her eyes were shut but I could see the bruising under them, Her cheeks had faint splatters of blood, covering her delicate freckles, turning them red, her body was stiff but she wasn’t cold, She was still warm. Quickly I checked her pulse.

Just Barely there!

I Picked her up and gently laid her on the bed. There was so much blood. I couldn’t tell where it was coming from. It was all over her, running from her face, all the way down to her legs.

What the actual fuck happened here!

Gently I pressed my hand to her head, letting the soft light heal the gash in her head. My magic flowed inside, slowly repairing the wound, mending it shut. The faint light coursed through her, healing the rest of the open wounds that decorated her body. I watched as each cut slowly repaired itself. Leaving nothing behind. No cut, No bruise, No scar. Just healed tan skin. The bruise under her eyes slowly began to fade, as if the healing light coursing through her banished the dark scars away. Her breathing began to even out and the pain in my chest slowly began to ease.

She’s going to be alright. She’s okay.
