“Something tells me it wouldn’t matter which merman I picked out for you. You’d find a flaw.”
“When you suggested Ryn as a match, I was willing to give him a chance, but he isn’t interested in me. But you’re right. I don’t think you should be picking me a suitor. I’m capable of choosing my own.”
“And what about the human?”
“Kasper’s trying to save his brother’s life, then they’ll return to England.” My father doesn’t need to know how deep my feelings for those two run.
“How can I help get him out of here faster?”
“You can let him go. And let us visit the oracle.”
“I forbid you from leaving Atlantis,” he says in a stern voice.
I may not agree with everything my father wants, but I understand he’s worried. “Okay. You have a deal.”
He hugs me. “I’m trusting you, Maris. Don’t let me down.”
“I love you, Daddy.”
“I love you too.” We hug tightly.
I’m not sure how I’m going to make this work, but I have to stay true to both my father and Kasper.
