“I’m going to shower before exploring the grounds,” Ryn says.
“I could show you around,” I offer, pushing my plate away.
“That would be great.”
We say goodbye to my dad and practically run back to my room. “Do you think he suspects anything?” I ask.
“We told your father the truth,” Ryn says.
I look around. Could my room be bugged? Surely not. Nobody knew I was coming or that Ryn would show up. He gestures to the bathroom, and I turn on the shower. We both strip down and climb in. “Do you think someone’s listening in?” I ask.
“I have no idea, but I don’t think we should risk it. Let’s get our things and take that walk. I noticed the wall near the beachside isn’t too high.”
“We’re going to escape?”
“Unless you’ve decided you want to stay?”
“No. I’m with you.” He kisses me hard on the lips. “I thought we decided we weren’t going to do that anymore.”
“You decided that, not me.” He leans forward to kiss me but gives me enough time to hesitate. I must be a glutton for punishment because I just can’t resist one last touch.
