“I knew you were my kind of girl.”

“Remember that when your brother’s telling me off for breaking you out.”

Sunbathing with these two guys should be so much fun. Owen made me promise we’d have one normal day, and I intend to grant the wish.

“I feel lucky to be out with you beautiful men. I’m the envy of every woman here,” I say hoping, Owen knows I see him as more than a sick person.

Owen laughs. “I think the women are jealous of you and wish the men would pay them some attention.”

“Are you hitting on Maris?” Kasper asks, making Owen and me laugh.

“He used to be jealous of all the girls I used to get,” Owen says, nudging me.

“Once the jug’s fixed, you’ll be back to having all the girls lining up.”

“He lost his touch long before we came here,” Kasper says, smirking.

“Are you jealous, brother?” Owen asks, the humour staying in his voice.

“No,” Kasper says too fast, earning him another laugh.

“Okay, so picture this. Two carefree guys lying on a beach. Which one are you drawn to, Maris?”

He’s only playing with Kasper, but I don’t know what his goal is. “I would be looking at the ocean, where I’d be swimming.”

“Boo. I thought you were fun,” Owen jokes.

“Fine, I’ll play. I’d totally drool over you both.”

Owen laughs hard, and Kasper frowns. “We’re just fucking with you,” Owen tells his brother. “I miss the days when everything wasn’t so serious.”

“Okay. Let’s stop hitting on Maris and get a beer,” Kasper says.

“Yes, let’s do it,” Owen agrees.

We spend the rest of the day trying to be merrier and forgetting our troubles.
