“More than together. Both times we’ve almost been kissing.”

“Is this your way of saying you want to make out?”

“Nope. You already turned me down once. I only want to kiss men who want to kiss me back.”

“I never said I didn’t want to kiss you. You’re worth more than me or Ryn.”

“That’s just something people say when they’re not really interested.”

“That’s not true at all. It’s not that I don’t want you. Actually, I want too much. I couldn’t stop at one kiss. I want to touch. I want to wrap my body around yours and take things that don’t belong to me.”

“I’m sick of everyone treating me like a child.”

“I thought I was the only one that was real with you.”

“Yes. You’ve explained you don’t think you’re a nice guy, but you never gave me the chance to make my own mind up about you.”

“Fine. Tell me what you think of me.”

“I think you’re brave and scared. You’re courageous because you’re doing everything you can to save your brother, even if it breaks ethics. You wish it didn’t, but you’re also scared you’re losing yourself.”

“That’s deep.”

“I’m not just a pretty face.”

“You’re definitely not. If finding the jug means we have to romance under Aquarius, I’ll try to control myself.”

“Nope. You’ve missed your chance to prove my theory now.”

“Oh, is that right?” He sits up, and I look at him curiously to see what he’s going to do. He stands towering over me, and I can’t help but smile.

“Am I in trouble?” Other than getting my attention, I’m not sure why he’s standing in front of the stars.

“Do you want to be?”

I bite my lip, suddenly feeling nervous, but he doesn’t comfort me like he usually would.

“Stop messing around.”

He shakes his head, shaking off whatever he was about to do. “Come on. Let’s go for a walk under the stars before we snuggle in for the night.”

We brought a simple cloth tent with us, which we’ve put up behind some nearby rocks. “That sounds like a plan.”

He offers me a hand and pulls me to my feet. We start to walk.

“What’s more romantic, a walk or a swim?” he asks.

“I like the sand between my toes. What about you?”

“The beach is pretty, and you can watch the sunset behind the waves.”

“See? I knew you were a softy underneath the tough guy act.”

“Just don’t tell anyone.”

I laugh. “If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be?”

“You already know the answer to that.”
