“You could say that. Is it too much to expect people to remain professional at all times, even in the face of temptation? I hold those that work for me to a high standard so it’s more than a little disappointing when they can’t maintain the decency expected.”

Jealousy tinged my words, making them sharper.

Stopping just behind her, Callie faced away with one hand pressing her fingertips against my desk. Breathing in, the fruity scent of her perfume wove deep into my soul, mingling with the mintiness of her shampoo, and for half a second I allowed myself to just soak her in.

She stood a full head shorter than me, and all her curves were tucked neatly into a black pencil skirt, white blouse, and black waistcoat. That never stopped my imagination from running over time.

“Do you need me to contact HR? If you witnessed something, I can write up a report.” Her words caught slightly in her throat.

Could she feel how close I was to her? Maybe she could see my shadow in the reflection of the glass although I hoped she could feel me in the same way that I could always feel her. Like a light in the darkness.

“Are you even allowed to write a report on yourself?”

Callie spun to face me, her brows lifting and her eyes wide. “Me?” Crimson flushed through her cheeks and down her narrow throat as hurt flashed into her gorgeous eyes. Such a sight brought a stab of guilt spearing through my chest. I wanted to ease her immediately.

“Yes.”

“But I—... I haven’t broken any rules.” The uncertainty in her voice would be adorable if not for the worry brimming over her lashes.

Enough games.

I stepped closer, bringing myself barely an inch away from her and held her gaze.

“I saw you with Kane. How he drank you up like you were the first glass of water he’d seen after walking the damn desert.”

The flush on Callie’s cheeks darkened.

“And now Liam, too? He’s tripping over himself to get out and see you one last time.” One brow raised as I spoke. “This magnetic pull that exists around you seems to be catching some strays.”

“S-Strays, sir?” Callie’s voice shook slightly and the worry in her eyes melted into light confusion.

“Don’t they know that you belong to me? Have I not staked my claim well enough?” Daring words that balanced on a knife’s edge. I could have read this all wrong. This could be a one-sided hunger in which case I would take the hit and suffer Callie’s resulting absence in my life.

I was pretty sure I was right though.

I lightly touched Callie’s shoulder and the contact was electric, even as she trembled beneath my fingertips and didn’t look away from my eyes.

“I don’t belong to anyone, sir,” Callie replies hoarsely. Her chest rose sharply, and the way her plush lips curled around that sir sent a lance of desire straight to my cock. Never in my life had I hungered for someone as much as I hungered for her.

“Is that so?”

“Yes.” She nodded and the waves in her hair rippled.

I held her gaze for a few long seconds, daring her to give any sign that she wasn’t eager for the taking. Callie didn’t back down nor did she look away.

All it took was one grasp of her waist, and a soft, needy gasp slipped past her lips. I spun her around to face the desk once more, then pressed myself up against her curvy body and wound one arm around her middle.

“Are you absolutely sure about that?” I leaned close, whispering my words against the shell of her ear. A full-body shudder moved through Callie, and then she pressed back into my hold. When she spoke, her voice was a trembling whisper.

“Oh, I’m one hundred percent sure.”

Keeping one hand wound around Callie’s waist so that her body stood firmly against mine, my other hand dipped below the waistband of her skirt and my entire body pinned her to the desk. She was mine. At this moment, there was nothing she could do without my permission.

“I think you might have forgotten,” I murmured low, my voice taking on a slightly deeper, gravelly effect as my fingertips touched the silky-soft warmth of her belly. She was as soft as I’d dreamed.

“I’ve never been claimed,” Callie gasped, another shudder weaving through her from head to toe.

“Careful,” I warned, writing the word into the shell of her ear with my lips while my hand dipped into the warmth of her underwear. “I might get insulted.”
