“And you’re mine.”

“Happily.”

“Are you sure about my situation? My co-dependent dad… and the crazy humping dog.”

“I’ll take them. I’d never ask you not to be there for your dad. We can buy a huge property with a guest house attached so he has his privacy, but we can still keep an eye on him. And Moonshine will have a huge backyard and maybe a playmate.”

Puppies and rainbows. Who would have thought it’d happen to me?

I capture her lips with mine in a hungry kiss but also a satisfying one that explores every corner of her mouth. That kiss carries a lifelong promise. “Let’s go back inside.”

“Fine, but don’t forget I’m still recovering…” she says playfully.

All I want is to hold her and never let go. Another rush of happiness courses through me. “Yes. And I still have to feed you those grapes.”

EPILOGUE

Hazel

I love my boss.

That’s why I’ve been neglecting you, my dear diary. But fear not. I’m back and will still add entries as life goes on.

Two months have gone by since we had one of the most amazing nights ever, and Archer declared his love for me. Since then, we’ve been looking for a new home with a guest house so my dad can live with us and still feel like he has his own space. We found a lovely property courtesy of Malcolm, who told us about it before it hit the market. We’re signing the papers and closing today.

That’s not the only change. A month ago, Archer asked me to marry him.

I know.

Marriage!

So now I have this huge sparkling rock. We’ll get married soon, but not right away because a lot is going on. We’ve worked nonstop on the Sugar & Silk collaboration project, and I’m enjoying it more than expected. I finally have a bigger role, am learning a lot of new skills, and am putting some I already have to good use.

It’s exciting.

A nip on my bare shoulder distracts me from my journal.

A sizzle goes up and down my body, and I close the journal, pushing it away on the bed.

Archer kisses my cheek. “Am I interrupting?”

My stomach flutters. I put my arms around his neck, smiling. He’s on top of me in his large bed, and nothing else has ever felt so right. “Never.”

He nuzzles my nose with his. “Good. Because we have an hour before meeting with the realtor again.”

“Are you sure about this? My dad is a lot less endearing when he’s that close twenty-four-seven,” I say, even though I understand why Archer doesn’t see a problem in having Dad in a guest house big enough for a family. Next door to us. They’ve spent more time together, too, and thankfully, they’ve bonded. Dad is doing well health-wise, and the more he gets to know Archer, the more he trusts him.

“Yes.”

I kiss him. “I love you.”

He gives me a long glance with his dreamy eyes, and my toes curl instantly. “You better.”

I run my finger down his nose. “Do you think you’ll enjoy having Malcolm as a neighbor?”

“I have to say that’s not my favorite part of this deal,” he jokes.

Smiling, I play with his hair. “You know, I was in his guest room once… wore his bathrobe.”
