“Wow.”

I chuckle. “That’s the second time you said that.”

“I can’t believe it. It’s all happening so fast.”

“I’m sure of it. Way more than I was on my best day with Brandon. Much more than any other decision,” I say, resolution dripping from my voice.

Joy flickers in Kendall’s big brown eyes, and seeing her so genuinely happy for me warms me inside. I’ve wanted this for a while… for her to witness my victories.

“That’s incredible. You also happened fast, working at the daycare, meeting someone, and getting married. You’ve turned your life around in the last year. A lot quicker than many people,” Kendall says, tears brimming her eyes. “I’m proud of you, Sylvie.”

Warmth spreads through me, and my chest is about to explode. “Really? Because I always felt, hmmm, I was such a pain in the ass for you. The little sister who always got in trouble.”

She tucks a strand of hair behind my ear. “What are you saying? I love you. We’re sisters.”

Tears well up inside me as I lean closer, and we hug. “I love you too. Get ready because, as my matron of honor, you'll help me plan this wedding in record time.”

She whistles. “Matron of honor?”

I bite my lower lip. I should probably have asked her with more fanfare, but I couldn’t help myself. This moment is perfect. “If you accept, of course.”

She smiles. “Accept? Hell, I’m claiming it. My baby sister is getting married.”

I squeal. Excitement threads through me. Yes. Everything is falling into place for the first time in a long time. And I’m enjoying every minute.
