“Wow,” she breathed out when he was done.

He turned his head and raised an eyebrow at her.

“I mean,” she waved her hand. “You can see everything.”

“Kinda the point,” Simo said and bit into a liquorice strap.

“No, I mean, I get that, but,” she pointed at the monitor on the top left corner. “The showers?”

“That gonna be a problem?” Cameron asked and winked at her.

She laughed. “I’m gay.”

“Nice,” Simo replied and nodded, chewed, looked her up and down. Joq could practically see the lesbian fantasies from straight porn playing out in his head.

“I meant more, isn’t that a privacy violation?”

“Not if it’s for protection,” Joq said. “And we’re not watching the players shower. Here, look,” he leaned forward and hit a button to change the camera. The entrance and exit came into view, obscuring the view of the locker room showers. “This is the view we use. We just have that one if needed. If something happens.”

Alison nodded and looked through the monitors. “It’s pretty extensive.”

“Every inch, baby,” Simo said and took a swig from his Red Bull. “Here, look.”

Joq crossed his arms over his chest and watched as Simo showed her that they did, in fact, have a view of every inch of the place. During games, they brought up the stadium views and the surveillance team split between monitoring the private areas, the player areas, the offices in the top of the building, and the crowd areas. The security on the ground had mics connecting them to the team in this room. Game days were all hands on deck.

“Does anything ever happen?” Alison asked.

“Not really,” Joq said.

“Hey now, we caught that racist that time,” Cameron said.

Joq felt his phone buzz in his pocket as he listened to Cameron regale Alison with the story of how they helped management locate a fan who’d racially vilified an Aboriginal player.

“Got her banned for life,” Simo finished.

Joq looked at his phone.

Gonna be a late one. Don’t wait.

Joq frowned.

I’m gonna be late too. Text me when you’re done.

He watched the screen for a while. No reply. He pocketed his phone.

“Come on,” he said to Alison. “I’ll show you around in person, show you what we’re looking at.”

“Make sure you smile up at the cameras,” Simo winked up at her.

She snorted.

“We’ll be watching, baby,” Simo went on.

“Simo, you’re one comment away from a sexual harassment charge,” Joq said.

Simo laughed.

“Don’t worry, boss,” Alison said. “I don’t feel harassed.”
