Such a feeble word, when the feelings she had for him and his brother were all-consuming, but there wasn’t one that meant more.

“So much.”

“I love you.”

And she orgasmed, the force of it stealing her ability to emit sound, her muscles contracting and fixing on his wonderfully stimulating hand inside her.

“How’s it feel?”

Bliss. Indescribable bliss.

Maybe she was slightly masochistic. But then her cowboys were a little bit sadistic, so together they were perfect. It might seem straight-up pornish but they’d taught her to love that feeling of fullness. She craved them and they knew it.

“Oh, God…” Arien held onto his tatted wrist, keeping him there inside her. “…don’t stop.”

She’d always crave them.

“I won’t.”

Not ever.

He was trying to be in the moment.

It was Christmas, for fuck’s sake, the first one he’d celebrate with Arien as his wife, and the first ever for his baby brother. Not that Benjamin would remember it or anything, but still.

Checking his phone every five minutes, Kellan’s mind was on other things. So far they’d come up with nothing. No tracks going into the woods. Griffin recalled seeing Pops sitting with a slice of Maizie’s cake at his wedding. Shiloh confirmed he’d signed the guestbook. Much to Tanner’s relief, and his too, truth be told.

But Jake called him yesterday. Victor thought he might be on to something. So while they all sat on the floor in their matching plaid pajamas—hey, at least she’d foregone the reindeer—opening presents, Kellan anxiously waited for word.

Benjamin sat on his father’s lap, big blue eyes transfixed on shiny red wrapping paper, trying to get his little fist in his mouth. Arien laid her head on his shoulder, camera in her hands, smiling as she watched Tanner rip it off for him. Next year, baby cakes. They’d be here in front of the tree with a child of their own.

He went to get up to start picking up the mess. She stopped him. “Sit. There’s one more.”

Arien crawled through discarded ribbon and tattered wrappings to the tree. Glancing over to his brother, he shrugged. Poor guy had to be beat, up all night seeing to Airdrie and her foal. They’d passed each other in the dark. He was leaving and Tanner was just getting home.

“This one’s for both of you.” She put a gold box on the floor between them.

“Don’t just sit there starin’ at it,” Matthew prompted them. “Open it.”

Kellan untied the ribbon. Tanner tore away the paper. They removed the lid.

“What’s this?” Lifting the frame from a nest of gold tissue, Kellan’s eyes sought hers.

Biting her lip, she smiled. “An ultrasound picture.”

“I coulda told ya that, Kel.” His brother sniggered, then paused. “Baby A and Baby B?”

“Twins.” And she grinned. “So maybe you’re both right.”

Holyyy shit.

They were. He already knew it.

Kellan reached for her, and pulling Arien onto his lap, Tanner’s arms around them both, he kissed her. “Two?”

She nodded.

“We shoulda been there with you.” Pressing her against him, his brother kissed her hair.
