“I wanna turn him out with Airdrie.” Tanner was grinning from ear to ear. “She’s in heat.”

“Late February’s a little early, don’t ya think?” Kellan asked, swinging off the saddle. “That’d have her foaling in December.”

“A Christmas foal—how perfect is that?” His brother hooked an arm around his neck. “C’mon, I’ll help ya.”

Arien was fixing breakfast when they made it back to the house. Seeing her barefoot in a pair of yoga pants that hugged her ass and one of those cropped shirts that teased her soft skin made his dick hard. He walked right over to the stove, spun her around, and kissed her. Either she didn’t notice her stepfather standing not three feet behind him, or she didn’t care. Because she let him. So he went with it.

Kellan squeezed her ass, his lips lingering on hers. “Good mornin’, baby cakes.”

“Mornin’.”

Not wanting to miss out, Tanner cut in and took his turn. “Mornin’, pretty girl.”

“Someone’s in a fine mood today.” Arien giggled, and half turning to glance back at him, saw their father smirking there behind her. Covering her face with her hand, she gasped. “Oh, my God.”

“Now, that’s what I love to see. One big, happy family.” Hugging her to his side, Matthew kissed her cheek. “It’s a beautiful mornin’.”

With a chuckle, Tanner pulled her hand away from her face. “What’s the matter, little sister? Did ya think he’d be mad?”

“Not exactly, but Jesus…” Transferring bacon to a platter, she muttered, “…my mom would die.”

“I keep tellin’ ya, she won’t.”

“Don’t you worry ’bout your mama. I’ll take care of her.” Rubbing her shoulders, Matthew glanced around the kitchen. “Where is she?”

“Still sleeping, I guess.” Arien shrugged. “I haven’t seen her yet this morning.”

Tanner’s brows shot up. “But it’s already goin’ on ten.”

“She’s tired is all.” Dad didn’t appear to be concerned. “Baby’s takin’ a lot out of her.”

“Well, I’m near starvin’ here.” For you. Swiping a piece of bacon, Kellan kissed her. “Let’s eat.”

In his haste to get back to the horses, Tanner rushed through breakfast. Matthew went upstairs to check on his pregnant wife. At least that’s what he told them. But Kellan knew better. Arien did too. It didn’t surprise him Jennifer was so tired all the time. All that fucking.

He leaned over the back of her chair. Kissing her neck, his fingers brushed over her nipples. “Meet me at the back paddock in an hour.”

“Why?”

“Somethin’ I want you to see.”

Just as he asked, he found her standing at the fence watching Gunner sniff at the mare’s raised tail. Running his hands down her arms, Kellan pressed in from behind her.

Arien angled her face toward his. “What’s he doing?”

“Courtin’ her,” he breathed into her ear. “See how she’s wettin’ herself for him? Airdrie’s showin’ him some signs, but she’s not quite ready yet.”

Same as you, baby cakes.

“Look how patient he is. Gunner’s a good stallion. She’ll give in eventually, and when she does, he’ll cover her.”

“How do you know?”

“She wants to be bred.”

Kissing her slender neck, Kellan slid his hand inside her jeans.

“You want that, too,” he said, rubbing her pussy. “So wet for me. You’re not quite there yet, either, but you will be soon.”
