He didn’t owe them another fucking thing.

Taylor left the podium.

Venery filed out behind him.

The label made good on their threat. CJ got the call their contract was canceled before they even made it to the limo. And they didn’t fucking care. They’d sue the label too. Besides, Venery was free now and they had a plan.

“I’m proud of you, man.” Sloan patted his shoulder as they ducked into the back of the car. “Standing up to those assholes.”

Taylor knew it wasn’t over. There would always be some fucker out there looking for another story. Another headline. Another photograph. It was a hazard of the music industry he’d grown used to, but they wouldn’t come sniffing around his family or Park Place ever again.

He unlocked the front door Chloe had painted the aqua that was bluer—In the Tropics, was it? He chuckled to himself. Roman and Timo waited on the other side ready to greet him, tails wagging. Best dogs ever.

Jesse and Chloe were fast asleep on the sofa. The baseball game was on. She always fell asleep watching baseball. He grinned and changed the channel. Cubs were losing anyway. He peeked in on Chandan in his Moses basket beside them.

Bassinet. Moses basket. Same shite.

The baby was wide awake, but he wasn’t fussing. Taylor reached down, picked up his son, and cradled him to his chest. He kissed the downy soft hair on his head and inhaled his sweet baby smell. This child and his mother, Jesse—his family.

God, he loved them.

He loved his life.

There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them. They were everything he wanted, but never dared to wish for.

But the universe knows, and sometimes those wishes come true anyway.

She took a long, slow, delicious suck. Cream swirled in her mouth. She closed her eyes with delight as she tasted delicate sweetness on her tongue.

“God, I’ve missed this,” she moaned.

How long had it been? Felt like forever.

“Holy shit, Chloe!”

She giggled. “What? It’s been ages since I’ve had one.”

Iced latte. Plain. No sugar. Whipped cream.

“I love this place,” she exclaimed. “It’s cute. When did it open?”

Chloe was really just excited to finally be able to leave the house without a black van following her. And as much as she adored her beautiful baby boy, it felt good to take a break from feedings and diapers—even for just an hour or two.

Linnea shrugged as she sipped on her americano. “About a month ago, I think.”

Apparently Beanie’s Coffee Roasters was the trendy new spot on First Avenue to get your daily dose of caffeine. It was situated in the same converted warehouse building as Charley’s, but on the opposite end, and just a short walk from Park Place if you cut through Coventry Park—now that was convenient.

“So the date is set, yeah?”

“Yes,” Linnea squealed. “October tenth at the lake house. Nothing fancy. Small and intimate, you know?”

Chloe nodded.

“It’s going to be beautiful—the autumn colors.” She had a dreamy look on her face. “And Seth will be home to give me away.”

She arched a brow and then shrugged. It was fitting, she supposed. Chloe had wondered how Seth was doing, but with everyone going on…he had to be all right if he was coming home and she was glad to hear it. When she thought of him, her heart broke. She liked him. He just needed what they all had—love and family.

“Dillon is going to be Ky’s best man, of course,” Linnea continued.
