Who else would it be?
“I’m tired,” I lie.
He sits on the side of my bed. “The police are gone.”
“Good. Can I leave my room now?”
He looks at me gravely. “Aspyn, you know the rules. You had it your way and look what happened. The one time I trusted you and you lied to me. Not only are you facing criminal charges, which I’m trying to have dropped, but now somebody wants to hurt you because of all of this.”
I didn't tell him about Tail Spin because he never would have approved.
I wasn’t trying to bring disgrace on him, or myself, but I’ve never seen life outside of this protective bubble.
Poor little rich girl.
“This is just how it is when you star on a reality show,” I tell him.
He sighs. “Aside from it being ridiculous, you’re a national disgrace.”
I snort. “Most of the people on social media agree with me, Dad. I took back the power.”
“By breaking a girl's nose?”
“Her nose was ugly. They saw what happened, they applauded me.
He gives me a look.
“I can probably get the charges dropped with a little smooth talking or a settlement. But you start acting out again…” He shakes his head. “What can I do to make this better?”
“I’m acting out because I’m a prisoner,” I say, not that he hasn’t heard it before.
“You have your charity work.”
“Dad! That’s barely twice a year, plus fashion week, and that trip to Paris where I had bodyguards following me around everywhere. It’s like being babysat with a bunch of Rottweilers.”
Rottweilers that are all fired up because nobody can do their jobs.
This whack job stalker got into my dressing room…and I don’t know what they did. Nobody will tell me.
“I have threats on your life. Do you not understand how serious this is?”
I stare at him.
My dad is my hero. He always will be, but he’s wrong on this front.
People will always extort wealthy people for money no matter who they are. Unfortunately, I happen to be his daughter. It has nothing to do with the show.
“I do,” I say, lowering my voice. “But this isn’t the first time, and it won’t be the last. Some nutjob is pissed because they don’t like me and I’m your daughter. What happened in the show came after. It has nothing to do with that. If anything, people love that I stuck up to Lisa and smashed that fucking slut’s nose in.”
He still can’t get his head around the fact that the one time I defied him, led to all of this.
It’s a bad look for Huntley Realtor Group.
“Language, Aspyn.”
My dad has always worried about me, but now he’s really going overboard.
“Is this about getting my attention?” he goes on as my eyes widen.
