Page 76 of The Witch's Destiny

“You think it came from a witch?” she asks, her tone skeptical. Then she blows out a loud breath. “Of course, it did. Who else would be texting you like that? Unless…could it be a vampire? The vampires despise witches just as much as the witches do them. Maybe someone is angry Jesse turned you?”

“I don’t think so, Steph,” I say in low tones. “I conjured a vision to show me who sent it, but the necklace dropped me into a coven meeting instead.”

“Which coven?” she asks, urgency filling her voice.

“I don’t know. But they were talking about eliminating me. They mentioned a prophecy they needed to prevent from happening.”

“A prophecy?” she asks, sounding thoroughly confused now.

“Yeah. But before they could go into more detail, the leader sensed my presence. She said someone who didn’t belong was among them. I pushed myself out of the vision before they could find me and somehow trap me there. Is that even possible?”

“Wait. What? The vision was happening in the present?”

“Yeah. I was surprised, too.”

“Holy shit, Eden.”

“I was hoping you could call a council meeting since you’re the new leader. I’d attend as the last Grundelier witch and question the others about this supposed prophecy.”

“Of course,” she says without pause.

“I’m sorry to pull you into this when you should be grieving,” I start, but she cuts me off again.

“No, you were right to call. I want to help. Having something else to focus on, to really step into the role that should’ve always been mine will help. I’ll set it up and let you know when and where.”

“Thanks, Steph. I love you.”

“I love you, too. And watch your back in the meantime. You shouldn’t leave the manor unless you absolutely have to.”

“I won’t. I promise,” I say, pride filling me at the way Steph is stepping right into the leadership role she was destined to fill.

After we say our goodbyes, I end the call and look at Jesse. He gives me a soft smile.

“She’s a good friend.”

“The best,” I sigh, leaning into him.

“We should bring Erik and Leif in on this so they can help us keep an eye out for trouble.”

“Okay,” I agree, turning my head to press my lips to his neck.

Wrapping his arms around me, he falls backward to the mattress, pulling me over him until my knees straddle his thighs.

“You need a little distraction?” he asks with a heated gaze.

I nod as I press my lips to his, our tongues tangling without pause. I moan into his mouth, then find myself on my back as Jesse hovers over me. Pushing up my tank top, he kisses a path over my breasts and down my stomach to the waistband of my shorts. His hands tug the shorts and my underwear down in one smooth motion, and as soon as my feet pop free, he tosses the garments aside and pushes my knees apart.

His lips tickle my inner thigh as he kisses his way upward, and my eyes fall closed as I push all other thoughts from my mind. My hips buck when his tongue finds my center, but he pushes them back down with one hand, holding me hostage there while he devours me.

My first orgasm comes quick with extreme violence, and I cry out before I can stop myself. I know the whole manor heard that, but as Jesse continues to work me over, I can’t find it in myself to care. As he brings me to the brink of a second explosion, I tug at his hair.

“I need you, Jesse,” I groan.

Giving me one last, long lick, he’s up and tugging his clothes off with vampiric speed. I blink, and he’s naked, stretching over me and notching the tip of his cock at my entrance. He goes still, searching my gaze for a moment.

“I love you, Eden,” he whispers, then slams his hips forward, filling me in a single, powerful thrust.

I curl my legs around him, locking my ankles together as he pistons into me, driving my desire to new heights with each stroke. Gently lowering his weight, he covers me deliciously as his hands slide up my arms. His fingers link with mine, squeezing tightly as he slows the pace of his hips, sliding his cock in and out in a steady, delicious rhythm.
