We were having breakfast and I poured her the juice. Tara took a large sip of it and closed her eyes as she savored the orange juice. I watched on as she drank almost the entire glass in a few sips. When she finally started eating her eggs, bacon, and toast, it didn’t take long for the heartburn to kick in. She jumped up from the table and bent over. I was instantly at her side wanting to make sure she was okay. When she told me she had heartburn, I couldn’t stop laughing at her. Her glare aimed at me was cute because it didn’t work at all. Not when she was in pain from the heartburn. I got her the medicine Doc gave her and it helped. Tara vowed never to touch orange juice again until the baby was born. What made the situation even funnier were the tears in her eyes because she couldn’t have it anymore.

“I’ll go shoppin’ when we get her back and make sure you have everythin’ she wants at the house. It’s not just on you to make sure she has this shit,” my brother tells me. “How are the triplets?”

“Growin’ bigger every fuckin’ day,” Kevlar answers with a smile on his face.

He starts telling us stories about the triplets and I know what they’re doing. They’re trying to keep my mind occupied so I’m not stressing about being here on the side of the road instead of getting my girl. They’re making it so I don’t just bust in there with no thought of Tara and ensuring she doesn’t get hurt. Still, I listen to my brother talk about his kids and watch his face as it lights up. Lyric and his kids are my brother’s entire world. They mean everything to him and I can’t wait to see how he is when the kids get older and he can really start playing with them and teaching them everything our parents taught us. The same with Ricochet.

Finally, I hear the growl of multiple bikes riding closer to us. The ground vibrates under my feet and I know everyone is here with Venom. Not a single guy was left behind for this. I hesitate to start my engine because I want to make sure Venom doesn’t have anything to say before we head to the house. Plus, I’m thinking we should walk to the house from here. The less noise we make, the more surprised Lucifer will be. He won’t have time to scramble and try to get away or hide behind my ol’ lady. I’m gonna mention that shit as soon as Venom gets up to us and shuts his bike off. Hopefully he’s already thought of that shit.

The guys all pull up close to us and shut their engines off one by one. When the area is silent once again, I look at my President. Venom is watching me. Waiting for me to go off and lose my shit again. I’m not going to because we’re so fucking close to my girl. As long as Goose is right, I’ll have my girl back in my arms in a matter of a few minutes. That’s the only thing holding my rage back.

“What do you think, Hawkeye?” Venom asks me as I look at the men surrounding him.

“I think we leave our bikes here and walk to the house. Don’t alert the stupid fuck any more than we already have that we’re here. Surround the house to make sure he can’t get away from us this time and then bust in. Tara is mine. I’m the only one who will get close to her. I don’t give a fuck who gets Lucifer and the skank, but they both need to get back to the fuckin’ clubhouse so we can take our time with them. The three of us deserve to get Lucifer more than anyone else here because he’s taken our ol’ ladies. It’s one of us who will fuckin’ end him. But, I want him kept alive for a while. I want to play with him and make him realize what real fuckin’ fear is,” I tell Venom honestly as I think of all the ways I can hurt the fucker.

“Sounds good to me,” Venom says, getting off his bike after putting the kickstand down and pulling out his gun so it’s ready.

We all follow our President’s lead and pull out our weapons. I’ve got my gun in hand and know there’s a knife in my boot if I run out of bullets. Not that I really plan to. There’s only Lucifer and the bitch inside as far as we know. No one wants to fucking go in with a man who won’t promise to protect them or give them anything in return for their loyalty. Lucifer is too fucking selfish to give up anything for those helping him. I’m not sure how he got the other guys we took out when they had Lyric and Paige, but no one else will work with him.

Venom splits us up into groups before we make our way toward the house. I’m sure Lucifer and the bitch have already heard us because the house isn’t too far from the road. However, I’m still hoping they’re both too fucked up on their drug of choice not to realize we weren’t parking here and we just rode by. That would be the best case scenario. Worst case would be them already being prepared for us to enter the house and hiding behind Tara. I’m trying so hard not to let my mind go there though. I don’t want to think of my girl being hurt by these assholes.

“On my count,” Venom says through the coms we all put in our ears on the way to the house.

It takes a few minutes for us to get to the house and make sure it’s surrounded. I’m at the front door with Rage, Shadow, Bull, and Wicked behind me. My brothers aren’t allowed to have my back right now. We all work together really well, but in this type of situation where so much is unknown, we won’t ever be together. It’s to ensure if something happens to one of us, the other two aren’t taken out as well. Venom does that with all blood relatives and those who are sharing an ol’ lady. Most of the Wild Kings are like that.

“Three. Two. One,” he counts down.

The second Venom says one, I’m kicking the fucking door in. I barely step inside the door when I see Tara. She’s walking unsteadily through the large living area. My eyes are locked on her as I watch her sway slightly. Knowing she’s about to go down, I rush to her side and barely manage to catch her before she hits the floor. I’m surrounded by the men at the door with me as I hear the others calling out, clearing all the rooms on their way through the old house. Tara’s eyes close as I hold her in my arms. She’s fucking out.

Pressing my fingers against her neck, I find her pulse. It’s beating strong and steady against my fingers as I keep my eyes locked on her. No one moves from around me as I just sit on the floor and hold her. My eyes scan her body, looking for any injuries these fuckers could’ve inflicted on her. I don’t see anything on her arms, other than her wrists where the skin has been ripped away as if she were trying to get herself free from cuffs. She’s got matching marks on her ankles. Not as bad, but they’re still there.

When I brush the hair away from Tara’s face, rage fucking fills me. Her face is covered in scratch marks and bruises. One of her eyes is slightly swollen and red around it. All the damage inflicted on her was on her head and face. I’m not sure how she managed to keep them away from the rest of her body, but she did. With the scratches on her face and neck, this leads me to believe the fucking skank did this to her. That Lucifer didn’t get his hands on her. I want to know where the fuck the other two are that she managed to get the fuck away. Lucifer isn’t just going to let her walk away from him.

“Got Lucifer,” Kevlar calls out, his voice in the same room as us. “Not sure what the fuck happened to him, but he’s got a head injury at the very least. Still alive though.”

“We got the skank back here,” Ricochet says as he walks in the room with us.

The second Ricochet sees me on the floor with Tara in my arms, he’s at my side. My brother looks over my girl the same as I did. He’s checking for injuries. When his eyes land on her face, I see the same murderous rage filling his eyes that I know is shining from mine. Our dad and Kevlar soon join us as more of the guys surround us.

“The Prospects are in the van. We also got a truck here for Tara. We’ll load Lucifer and the bitch up. You get Tara to the hospital. You all know the drill. I want her checked out and make sure the baby is okay. No one will touch this fucker until you guys are ready to start dealin’ out his punishment,” Venom says, watching as I keep Tara in my arms and only look at her.

“We’re gonna help you up,” my dad says, reaching under my arms on one side as Ricochet does the same on the opposite side. “You get in the back of the truck with her and I’ll drive. Ricochet and Kevlar, I want you in front and behind the truck. We’re gonna go fast as fuck so we can make sure Tara and the baby are okay. Venom, make sure our bikes get back to the clubhouse.”

“We’ll get them back. I want more than Kevlar and Ricochet with you on the way to the hospital. I know we’ve got this fucker now and he can’t hurt anyone again. Still, I want you all protected and this is the way to do that shit. We’ll all get there as soon as we can,” Venom says, his voice barely registering to me as I’m helped to my feet, never once letting go of Tara.

She doesn’t move a muscle as I’m lifted to my feet. Her head is hanging down over my arm and it freaks me the hell out. Her head is rolling around as if she has no control over anything which only makes me even more scared for her. I pray to a God I don’t believe in to make sure she’s okay and that there’s no internal damage we can’t see. That’s my main concern right now. And I’m sure it’s a thought on the mind of Ricochet as well. He’s going to be worried about the baby until he can see it with his own eyes that he or she is okay.

With my brothers and dad surrounding me, we make our way out of the abandoned house and to the truck a Prospect pulled up as close to the steps as he possibly could. Kevlar rushes forward and opens the back door. I slide in with his help and don’t let go of my girl. She’s still not moving and I don’t want to do any more damage to her. Once I’m in the middle of the seat, my dad closes the door and races around to get in the driver’s seat. Kevlar and Ricochet take off to get to their bikes. I’m not sure how the fuck they’re gonna get them out with everyone else parked around them now, but they’ll figure it out.

My dad doesn’t wait for them to get to their bikes. He pulls away from the house and we head down the dirt driveway. He’s driving so fast, a huge dust cloud is kicked up surrounding the truck. I’m barely able to see the rest of the guys who will be going with us racing for their bikes. I don’t really care who the fuck comes with us as long as we get her to the hospital.

“I’m callin’ Doc. Gonna have her meet us there so she can check over Tara without anyone else touchin’ her. I know you’re not gonna want anyone else lookin’ after her,” my dad says, pulling his phone out.

I don’t listen to his conversation as he talks to Doc. As long as she meets us at the hospital, I don’t give a fuck what’s said between the two of them. My entire focus is on Tara and waiting for any sign of her to wake up. Even if it’s just for a second. I want to see her gorgeous eyes looking up at me as she smiles. My sweets has the best fucking smile I’ve ever seen. When it’s aimed straight at me, my heart stutters in my chest and I vowed long ago to make her always smile. Now, I don’t know if she’s gonna wake up again. Fear fills me at the thought of her not waking up again. Since I don’t know what was actually done to her, I don’t know why she isn’t waking up.
