“I feel sick to my stomach.” I walk to the window, looking outside. It’s funny how the world can look so normal and peaceful while your own life has been completely turned upside down. Ethan puts his hands on my shoulders and I shake them off, walking away from him. “Don’t touch me. I can’t think when you touch me, but you already know that don’t you?” Ethan sighs, putting his hands back in his pockets. “I don't know what to say or even think right now,” I say as tears continue to fall. “I thought I was prepared to handle this, but—how dangerous is this for me?” Panic begins to rise in my chest and my stomach churns.

“I don’t have all the details. We need to meet with the medical team, but I would never even consider asking you to do anything I thought might harm you.”

“Everything we did last night and this morning…you made it so it would be too hard to walk away from you. You wanted to have some kind of hold on me. Am I right?” Ethan takes my hands, but I pull away. I’m so pissed off. He knew exactly what he was doing.

“I needed you to feel our bond, Olivia.”

“We should have talked about it first. You had a responsibility to tell me everything first. You knew you were trapping me.”

“Olivia—”

“Do you think I’m stupid, Ethan? You’re the Alpha. It’s your job to make careful and calculated decisions. You made a very conscious decision to show me your wolf. We were at dinner and you brought it up like it was just something you were ready to share with me.”

“Olivia, I?—”

“Oh, wait. Is this about that guy at dinner?”

“What guy at dinner?” Chloe asks.

“A guy from Ethan’s security team checked me out and made an immature, stupid remark.” I turn back to Ethan. “You felt the need to claim me after that. Didn’t you?”

Ethan pulls his hands down his face with a sigh. “I did what I felt was necessary.”

My mouth drops in shock. “Oh, my God! I can’t believe you!”

“I couldn’t risk it, Olivia! You can’t see it right now, but I did this for both of us. Even if last night hadn’t happened, you would still be in pain if you leave me. I did us both a favor by strengthening our connection.” He stalks toward me, backing me up against the wall and caging me in. “I need you, Olivia. I love you, and I know you have some pretty strong feelings for me too. Why would you want to walk away from this?” He stares into my eyes and traces his finger down my jaw. “You’re my world now, Olivia. I did what needed to be done, and I’m not sorry.”

“What? How can you say that to me? How am I supposed to trust you?”

“Because I would never do anything to hurt you. Not ever. You’ll soon understand I knew what was best for us all along.”

“It wasn’t your fucking call to make! This is my life too!” I push out of his hold and move to the other side of the room.

“You need to face the facts, Olivia. Walking away has never really been an option for you, and it certainly isn’t an option for me.”

I shake my head, running my hands over my face. “It’s just that easy to you, isn’t it? Do you even really love me?”

Whipping his head up, he marches toward me again, his eyes meeting mine. “Of course, I love you! Don’t ever fucking question my love for you!”

“I need to get out of here.”

He reaches out, taking my arm in his hand. “You’re not going anywhere.”

I yank my arm from his grasp. “The hell I’m not! I need some fresh air and a few minutes to myself. I’m going outside.”

Ethan stands with his hands on his hips. “I’ve told you it’s not safe for you out there alone yet.”

“Yeah, well…you’ve said…and not said…a lot of things. Nothing is going to happen to me in your back yard. I’m going outside to process this insanity and you aren’t going to fucking stop me! I’ll be back when I’m damn good and ready.” I storm out of the living room to the back door without looking back.

“Olivia!” Ethan calls after me.

“Ethan, just give her some space,” I hear Chloe say.

I put on my shoes and let the door slam behind me. I can’t believe this is my life right now. My entire body shakes as I walk in circles on the patio below Ethan’s deck. He’s not biting me and changing me into a fucking werewolf. No way. I’m not letting this happen. I look out into the woods. This is going to hurt like hell.
