“Honestly, yeah. You’re supposed to be mine, Olivia. He doesn’t deserve you. This just proves that. I want you. I’m willing to offer you every fucking thing you want. I never wanted you to be hurt by this,” he says as he follows me.

“It’s a little late for that. God, I can’t believe he did this to me! That asshole!” I say through my tears, but then immediately feel hypocritical. Am I not just as bad for kissing Ethan?

“I want to fucking kill him for what he did to you, Olivia.” Ethan rubs his hands up and down my arms. “I just hope you’ll be able to see things for how they really are now.”

I cross my arms and stare at him. “Ethan, how long have you known about what he did the night of the wedding? Did you know when you saw me last night?”

He sighs and looks away from me.

“You knew.”

“Yes, but I didn’t want to have to show you.”

“What the hell were you waiting on? You should have told me!”

“I wanted you to come to me on your own. If I could get you to agree to be with me willingly, then I wouldn’t have to hurt you by showing you what he did.”

“Oh, so it’s my fault?”

“I didn’t fucking mean that, and you know it. I know it hurts, but you have no reason to be mad at me. I did you a fucking favor, here. You deserve to know what that selfish prick is up to behind your back.”

“You mean I deserve to know as long as it suits your agenda, right? You should have told me right away, even if it didn’t bring me to you. You should have told me to be a decent person.” Tears continue to stream down my cheeks while my chest quivers.

“Olivia—”

“What did you think was going to happen, Ethan? Did you think I’d see the photos, thank you, and just fall into your arms?”

He stands motionless, just looking at me.

“Oh, my God. You did.”

“Olivia,” he says, reaching out to me.

“No.” I back up out of his grasp.

“Okay,” he says with a nod. “I only did this to reveal the truth. You deserve the truth, and you sure as fuck deserve more than Colin Burke is capable of giving. I mean, fuck, Olivia. Did I screw things up that bad with you by giving you the truth?”

“You only gave me the truth when it was of benefit to you. You manipulated the situation, hoping to take advantage of my vulnerability. You wouldn’t have said anything at all if I just agreed to end it with him.”

“Only because I didn’t want you to be hurt. I didn’t manipulate shit! You deserve the truth, and I fucking got it for you! Colin Burke did this all on his own. I just happen to be the one who caught him with his pants down.”

“Oh, real nice.” I roll my eyes, wiping away tears.

“What? It’s true, isn’t it? Are you saying you’d rather not know? I don’t believe that for a fucking second.”

“Of course, I want to know, but you didn’t do this to help me. You did this to help yourself. You hoped I would come running to you to make it all better.”

“Is that so bad? Because I can assure you, I would most definitely make it all fucking better.”

“You just don’t quit. Do you?”

He shakes his head, crossing his arms. “No. No, I don’t. I told you I won’t stop until you’re mine, and I meant it.”

“I need to go. I need to see Colin.”

He shakes his head. “No, not without me. I’m coming with you.”

I point my finger at him. “You will stay away from me! My mind is an emotional mess when I’m anywhere near you. I can’t think clearly around you.”
