“Yes, Alpha,” Max says, looking at Ethan with a reassuring smile. “And, congratulations,” he says, offering Ethan a handshake.

“Thank you, Dr. Harper,” Ethan says as he accepts, and I frown at their exchange.

Max turns his attention back to me. “Olivia, I would really recommend that you stay here tonight. I’m sure Chloe would be happy to stay here in the room with you.”

“Of course,” Chloe says.

“No, I can’t stay here.” I shake my head and attempt to sit up, but fall back onto the pillows when I get dizzy.

Ethan’s hands shift from my legs to my arms as his body leans over mine. “You can, and you absolutely will stay here. You’re in no condition to be leaving, and I’m not authorizing anyone to take you anywhere tonight.”

I look around at all the concerned faces staring at me and sigh. “Fine.”

“Nick, could you go home and grab us some things?” Chloe asks.

“There’s no need, Chloe. I can stay and watch over Olivia tonight,” Ethan says.

I sit up and grab my head as I feel light-headed again. “You will do no such thing.”

“Actually,” Max says. “Alpha, I really think it would be best if you allow Chloe to stay with her for tonight.”

“What? Why? You surely don’t expect me to leave her?” Ethan asks as he stops massaging.

Max places his hand on Ethan’s shoulder. “I understand your concern, Alpha, but given the stress of the evening’s events, it’s best if Olivia can relax and rest. I assure you, I only have our Luna’s best interest at heart.” He looks at me, smiling with great pride.

Luna?

“I promise to call you if anything happens,” Chloe says to Ethan.

“Alpha,” Max says in a very calming tone, “I know how hard this must be for you, and of course, as Alpha, you make the final call. Please just know that I ask this of you for the good of Olivia’s health.”

Ethan nods his head and sighs. “Fine, but I am to be notified if anything at all comes up.”

“Of course. You have my word,” Chloe says. Apparently, I have no say in any of this.

“I’ll be on my way then. You can always call me as well,” Max says. “Get some rest, Olivia. Goodnight, everyone.”

“Bye, Dad,” Chloe says, hugging Max. “Thank you,” she says as she sees him out the door.

“I’ll go get you two some clothes and things,” Nick says, and then pats Ethan on the shoulder on his way over to the door. “Are you ready, man?”

Ethan finally allows me to lift my legs from his lap, and he stands. “For the record, I don’t like this. At all,” he says with a frown. “But, if this is what it takes for you to get some rest, then I’ll go.” He leans down, gives me a gentle kiss on the forehead, and whispers, “I’ll see you in the morning.” His alluring fragrance once again intoxicates me, and I’m unable to take another breath until he leaves the room and the door is closed.

No wonder I got dizzy and passed out.

“Okay, it’s just you and me now. No boys.” Chloe giggles.

I release a sigh. “Thank God. Where is my phone? Colin is probably expecting me to call him tonight.”

“Here you go,” Chloe says, handing me my phone from my purse.

Olivia: Not feeling well. Staying with Chloe tonight.

“Can I get you anything? Water?” Chloe asks.

“Sure, that would be great.”

Chloe hands me a bottle of water from the mini-fridge. “I’d ask if you’re okay, but I’m kind of guessing you’re not there yet.”
