Yakim’s gaze zeroed in on me. His eyes were ice-blue and there was a piercing quality to them that made me feel like he was stripping me bare.

Shifting my gaze away from his face, I took in his tall, broad-shouldered body. He wore an elegant black suit that molded perfectly against his muscular chest.

If his face wasn’t so ugly, he’d make a very handsome man, I thought distractedly.

I thought of Leon. His face had an angelic beauty to it and his liquid-gold eyes were pretty and unique.

Yakim’s original face must’ve shared some similarities to Leon’s since they were brothers. A sliver of pity went through me as I stared back at him.

His ice-blue eyes caught the change in my emotions. Pursing his lips, he stalked forward.

I automatically stepped away until my back hit the window sill.

A rush of cold air came in through the window. I shivered in my thin dress, a gesture he seemed to notice immediately.

Shirking off his jacket, he threw it my way.

I held it in my hand and stared at him.

“Do my clothes disgust you too?” he asked in a deep voice that shivered down my spine.

“Uhh-no. No! Of course, not!” I replied, flustered.Shit!I cursed silently and hurriedly thrust my hands through the long sleeves.

The jacket was long and heavy. Yakim’s heat clung to it, warming me up immediately.

“Thanks, I guess,” I said meekly.

Closing the distance between us, he grabbed my upper arm and pulled me against me.

I crashed against his broad chest, feeling the hardness of his muscles. The scent of cloves enveloped all around me. For a fleeting second, it didn’t feel too bad to be pressed up against this man.

That’s when I felt the sharp tip of a knife digging into my back.

“Don’t move,” he whispered in my ear.

I stayed still, listening to the steady rhythm of his heart.

“You’re crazy!” I spat.

Low chuckles rumbled in his chest. “Just a precaution, Princess.”

“There are three of you and just one of me. I know I can’t leave until you psychos let me.”

“Callum dearest is at my door.”

I froze against him.

His finger dug under my chin, forcing me to look up at his scarred face. “You don’t look too happy about it,” he said, watching me intently. “Does he scare you?”

I felt like I was standing on the edge of a precipice and facing a vicious beast. Moving forward would get me killed. Stepping back would kill me too.

It was a matter of choice. Either way, the consequence was death.

“Do as I tell you or I will kill you,” he said, digging the knife at my back threateningly.

“Don’t you plan on killing me anyway?” I asked him, looking straight into his icy blue eyes. “Once you’re tired of me, you’ll get rid of me.”

“Your death doesn’t benefit me,” he said in a slow, clear voice. “Follow my command and I’ll let you live.”
