“You want Beckett Industries there?” Noah asked in a tight voice.

“Especially them,” said Dad. “I’m sure they’ll play along as well. It’s important to do so. We don’t want our clients taking advantage of our feuds.”

“I’ll handle Luke when he comes,” said Milla.

“That asshole will bring trouble,” I said. “You don’t know the weasel like we do.”

He tried to kill Corey, I screamed silently.

I never forgot about the attack that nearly killed Corey all those years ago. It’d been Milla’s timely presence that saved my brother’s life back then.

“I know not to trust him,” Milla said in a grim tone. “He disappoints me. He was such a good friend to me in college. I hate it that he sees me only as a competitor now.”

I met Noah’s fiery gaze. He stayed silent but his tightly-balled fists didn’t escape my notice.

Milla always thought of the bastard as her friend. He’d probably been planning to use her against us all this time. Guys like Luke Beckett never kept anyone close to them.

“We’ll handle everything,” said Corey. “Just do your bit and get better.”

Dad leaned forward and patted his hand.

Warmth and strength suffused me. Milla was on the same page as us now. We were going to carry Amhurst Co. further than our parents dreamed of.

There was no one standing in my path to the CEO position, so the handover process went on smoothly. There were a ton of papers for us all to sign but in the span of a week, I had officially taken over Brian’s seat in the company.

Tonight would be the first time Brian announced my succession in public. With Noah’s help, he arranged a grand party at Amhurst Mansion.

Industry leaders, investors, and a bunch of our managerial staff were all coming tonight to congratulate me.

Taking a deep breath, I glanced at my reflection in the tall, gilded mirror.

The shimmering mermaid gown glided smoothly over my curves. A matching bolero jacket covered my shoulders and upper arms, drawing attention to my exposed cleavage.

A teardrop sapphire glowed at the base of my throat.

The length of my honey-blond hair was wrapped into an elegant bun. My makeup for the evening was bold and dramatic.

My ensemble exuded power and confidence.

Fierce determination glowed in my eyes. Amhurst Co. was finally under my control.

I spent five years building myself up into a powerful, influential woman. Hard work and a torturous schedule were the only things I knew.

My only goal had been to snatch everything away from Noah, Corey, and Caleb. Vengeance burned in my heart. Every waking moment had been a race against time to strengthen myself.

Life truly knew how to throw curveballs.

Everything I wanted was handed to me by the very people I hated for so long. The trusting looks in their eyes sent waves of warmth through my heart, telling me they were going to support me no matter what.

Noah, Corey, and Caleb.

They were trusting me with more than just a prestigious position and a hefty share of the company’s profits.

Amhurst Co. was the pride and joy of their mother and her legacy. They were trusting me with everything their mom left behind for them.
