“What about Milla, Dad?” said a different voice.

Turning around, I watched Noah moving closer to us. He came to stand only a few feet away from us.

“I’ll take care of her,” said Dad.

With a sudden move, Noah grabbed my arm and pulled me against him.

My body crashed against his hard-muscled torso. It hurt a little but in my drunken haze, I rather enjoyed the feel of my soft curves pressed against his powerful body.

“You’re so hard,” I moaned, caressing his perfect pecs over his shirt.

His expression remained cold and angry. I poked at the corner of his mouth to make him smile.

He looked down at me with raised eyebrows. “Stop it, Milla,” he muttered.

I poked him harder simply to spite him.

“Give her to me,” said Brian. “I’ll take her upstairs.”

“Why, Dad?” he asked. “Why doyouhave to be the one to care for her? I can do it too. Or one of the maids.”

“Let it be, No,” Caleb mumbled from the couch. “Don’t start trouble over nothing.”

“You have to answer for some things, Dad,” said Noah, ignoring Corey and Caleb’s mutterings. “Why did you hide her from us all these years? You knew we were driving ourselves crazy trying to find her. You could’ve at least let us know she was alive.”

Corey was about to follow Hubert but he stopped. Turning around, he came back to join Caleb. They didn’t look drunk anymore. Both their expressions cleared up at that question.

“Answer us, Dad,” said Corey, looking sober. “I’ve been wondering about the same thing since she came into that meeting. Why wouldn’t you tell us? Milla was mad at us. There were several reasons why she hated us. What about you, though?”

“How could you let us suffer all these years without telling us anything?” questioned Caleb. His voice was filled with pain and bitterness.

They were all staring at Brian for an answer but I felt the weight of their accusations too. Until now, I didn’t think I did anything wrong by fleeing this town.

“I wanted it that way,” I confessed in a low voice. “It’s not Brian’s fault.”

Corey and Caleb moved nearer to me.

Brian glanced toward the corner where Hubert was waiting.

“Leave us,” said Brian in a grim tone. “Make sure no one else comes here.”

Hubert gave a nod and hurried away from the room.

“Tell us, Dad,” said Noah. “Are you hiding anything else from your sons?”

“Milla, come here,” said Brian, extending his hand toward me.

I readily complied, moving away from Noah, but before I could step away, he pulled me against him.

“Let her go!” Brian hissed.

“Why? Does it bother you if I touch her?” Noah asked. He looked down at me. “What about you, Milla? Is my touch that unbearable to you?”

“No.” This strange conversation was starting to sober me up too. I looked around at the accusatory looks on Noah and his brothers’ faces.

“You hurt her,” Brian said in a low, angry voice. “If she didn’t want to be near you, then I was going to respect her wishes.”

“What about us, Dad?” Noah questioned, his expression crumpling. The pain in his voice grew stronger. “You care about her so much. What about us? Your own sons? We were hurting too. We were drowning in guilt. Couldn’t you just tell us she was safe?”
