Fucking bastard. I grabbed him by the collar and thrust my fist into his grinning face.

His cry mingled with someone’s gasp behind me.

Throwing Luke away, I whirled around.

The young woman who’d recently joined as Milla’s assistant stood close by, her kohl-rimmed eyes wide and her hand clamped over her mouth.

“You fucking piece-of-shit,” Luke growled, wiping a speck of blood from his bleeding lips. His eyes shone with rage as he glared murderously at me.

A feeling of pure satisfaction coursed through me.

“I can put you behind bars for assault,” he spat. “We even have a witness.”

“Go ahead,” I said without a care, knowing very well he’d never openly show any weakness to the media.

He came at me, raising his fist to hit me.

The woman behind me let out a shrill shriek.

I dodged Luke’s clumsy attack easily, sidestepping in time to see him hurl himself past me.

“What is going on here?” Milla’s loud voice made me look up.

She took in the scene before her and quickly marched over to her assistant.

“What are you guys doing?” Milla snapped. “This is a place for grownups. Take your fight outside and stop terrorizing my staff.”

She rubbed her assistant’s shoulder, glaring at me.

“He doesn’t want you to have any friends,” Luke hissed. “He’ll alienate you from all your supporters.”

“Shut your pie hole,” I growled, throwing a warning glare in his direction.

“Enough,” said Milla. “You’re bleeding, Luke. Come back inside my office and we’ll see to that cut.”

“Let him go. He’s not worth the effort,” I said, hating the smug look that Luke threw in my direction. He was going to use the situation to his advantage. Shitty bastard!

“Please, Noah,” Milla said with a grim look in her eyes. “Luke’s our guest. I don’t know why you guys fought but it’ll look ugly for both our companies if this skirmish was leaked to the media.” She glanced at Luke. “You too. Can you forget about this fight?”

“Why should I?” Luke muttered. “He started it.”

“Well, I’m ending it,” said Milla. “Come on, Mal. Let’s help him out.”

Milla’s assistant ushered Luke inside her office while he grumbled under his breath. Before Milla could follow them, I moved toward her, grabbed her arm, and pulled her back.

“Don’t get swayed by him,” I hissed urgently.

“I know what I’m doing,” she said, meeting my gaze. “Now, let go. You’ve caused enough trouble for the day. Let’s just hope none of the other employees saw you hitting him.”

“I don’t care about it.”

She pulled her arm away. “You’re smarter than this. Or you used to be. We’re not in college anymore. Fights like these will have a direct consequence on our reputation.”

Stepping away, she turned around and stalked inside her office. With a click, the door closed behind her.

Fuming, I stood on the spot.

Luke Beckett was a master manipulator. I was sure he was going to make me look like the bad guy in this situation. Milla already hated me and was surely going to believe his lies.
