For the first time in years, I found myself smiling for no reason.

Putting my phone into the pocket of the bathrobe, I headed out to meet Corey and Caleb in the living space of the suite.

They were both gathered around a coffee table filled with dishes. The rich aroma of coffee lingered in the air, making me inhale deeply.

“Come on,” Caleb called. “The food’s getting cold.”

Corey shifted away from his brother, making space for me between them.

Warmth shot through me at the gesture. Trying hard not to smile too much, I went to sit on the couch.

“Let me make you some coffee,” said Corey, proceeding to fill a cup with the steaming dark brew.

“Thanks,” I muttered and picked up a pastry. Biting into it, I tasted raspberry jelly and cream.

Caleb leaned into me. Looking deep into my eyes, he whispered, “You’ve got something there.”

My hand went up to touch my mouth but he caught hold of it. Leaning closer, he swiped his tongue along my lower lip.

“So sweet,” he said in a husky voice.

His green eyes shone with an intensity that instantly made my cheeks heat up.

“Let her eat,” Corey said from my other side. “She’s got to be famished. She barely ate anything last night.”

I turned my surprised gaze on him. “How do you know that? Were you stalking me?”

He winked. “I wouldn’t call it stalking but you had my attention the second you entered the room.”

“You can say the same for those old geezers too,” Caleb muttered.

“People here seem more interested in my private life,” I said, filling up my plate with more pastries. “They weren’t so curious about my background in LA.”

“This is Silverlake City,” said Caleb in a grim tone. “Plenty of old families and established businesses here. They’re always curious when there’s a new player among them.”

“They also want to know if you’d be someone useful to keep around,” said Corey.

I sipped my hot coffee quietly.

The elderly man wanting to pair me up with his nephew wouldn’t be so keen if he knew where I came from. It was probably my new surname that was getting them interested.

“I’m going to need to head out now,” said Caleb. Wrapping his arm around my shoulders, he pulled me close for a kiss. “Let’s have lunch or something later. I can’t wait to see you again.”

“What about me?” Corey pretended to pout.

Getting to his feet, Caleb moved over to him and dropped a kiss on his head.

The stupid smile on Corey’s face made me laugh. I’d missed seeing them together like this.

“What about you?” I asked when Caleb walked out of the room.

“I need to be going too,” said Corey. His expression fell as he picked up his coffee cup to take a sip.

“It’s fine,” I said. “Don’t be late on my account. I’m going to wait for Tom to come back with my stuff and then, I’ll leave too.”

“What’s the deal with those guys?” he asked in a serious tone. “Are you involved with them?”

“I’m close to them,” I said with a small smile. “They’ve been with me since I left Silverlake City. Brian decided it’d be good for me to have them by my side. At first, I didn’t see the point.” I chuckled and pointed at myself. “I’m not a celebrity, so what was the point of keeping a bodyguard?”
