Noah’s body lay still in my arms, his beaten-up face remaining expressionless.

“Noah? Noah!” I called, giving his shoulder a shake.

That’s when I felt a warm stickiness on my fingers. Bring my hand away, I found it was coated with blood.

Did he get shot? The thought ricocheted in my mind.

“Are you okay, Azalea?” Nick kneeled before me, staring at me closely.

“I’m fine,” I said as panic flared deep inside me. “But Noah...”

The sound of approaching footsteps sent me into a frenzy. Was Luke back with his men?

“Milla?”

“Noah?”

Two familiar voices shouted our names.

“Here!” I tried to speak but could barely make any sound come out of my choked throat. “We’re here but Noah’s...”

I looked down at Noah, feeling his blood soaking into my skirt.

“No, no, no,” I moaned. “Please, Noah. Open your eyes.”

“What happened?” Caleb and Corey were beside us now.

“The old fucker shot your brother,” Nick said in a grim tone. “He needs to be taken to an emergency ward right away.”

We all looked over to the spot where Bill lay on the floor.

“Did you shoot him?” Corey asked.

“Yeah,” said Nick. “My hesitation gave him the chance to shoot at Noah. Should’ve taken him out the moment I saw him pointing his gun at them.”

“Help me,” I moaned, struggling to get up while supporting Noah’s weight.

“Take them upstairs,” said Nick. “I’ll get the police to come in here for a clean-up.”

“Are you sure you want the cops involved?” said Corey.

“Yeah. That’s the best way to get that bastard’s son locked up for life,” said Nick. “People also need to see the true face of Beckett Industries. Burying them means burying the sins they committed.”

“But—”

“I’ll handle everything here,” Nick said in a commanding tone. “One of you should go with your brother while the other one can take Azalea home. You’re wasting time we don’t have.”

Straightening up, Nick took out his phone and walked away from the scene. He was the only calm person in our group and for that, I was deeply grateful.

My mind was in complete chaos. It was still hard for me to accept Noah was dying in my arms right now.

Caleb extracted Noah from my arms and hauled him on his back.

Corey grabbed my hand and helped me to my feet. His emerald eyes raked me from head to foot, looking for injuries.

“Hurry,” Caleb muttered, heading toward the other side of the tunnel.

I stopped, staring down at Bill Beckett’s corpse. I couldn’t believe he was dead and lying in a pool of his own blood. Was the monstrous man truly dead?
