I gave a nod and stepped aside.

When Hubert left, I sat down on the raised wooden ledge of the threshold to watch the game.

It was amazing to watch Irene laugh and shout like a regular kid. It was such a change from her quiet, subdued behavior from last evening.

Who knew it’d be these tall, big men with dark hearts that’d bring out such joy in her?

And who could’ve guessed a little girl capable of killing two men would bring out the inner child inthem?

I sat on the threshold for a long time, watching each of them closely.

Noah, Corey, and Caleb were still as tightly bonded as the day I met them. They had no problem sharing me between them, and right now, they were happily sharing Irene’s attention between them as well.

They’d make amazing fathers to my children.

The sudden thought shook me to my core. It’d barely been three months since I came back to them and I was already thinking that far into the future.

The thought took root in my mind, refusing to let go.

It was strange how I couldn’t make it work with any other man. Five years was a long time to spend away from them, long enough for me to have found someone else.

I belong to them, I realized.

I stayed theirs since the first time they proposed sharing me.

Long ago, they banded together to break me but they also came together to put me back piece-by-piece.

Our pasts were closely intertwined. It took more than physical attraction to bind us all in such a tight relationship.

I never put much faith in fate and destiny, but at this moment, I knew I was destined to be with the Amhurst brothers.

The four of us struggled against it for years but time had come to accept our bond. People might think it was impossible to belong to three men but there was no other way for us.

A smile came on my lips as I watched Irene trying to dribble the ball that was too big for her small hand. My heart melted at the sight.

It was a rare day when neither I nor the Amhurst brothers went to work.

We were all huddled in the vast kitchen of Brian’s house. Afternoon sunshine came in through the glass windows, lighting up the warm, cozy scene playing out before me.

Irene, Noah, Caleb, and Corey were immersed in making pastries for tea and dinner. The poor cook sat next to me, drinking a cup of coffee while my lovable monsters made a mess of her pristine kitchen.

I, on the other hand, had my laptop open before me.

Even though I was away from the office, I needed to reply to the never-ending streams of emails that came into my inbox.

My inner workaholic rejoiced with the work, leaving me guilt-free while I watched Noah teach Irene how to use a cookie-cutter to cut out shapes from the rolled-out pastry.

Corey and Caleb wore matching blue-striped aprons and hovered over a pan. They were both engrossed over making apple jelly.

“This is only for today, right?” Mrs. Fleming, our cook asked me with an imploring look.

“Of course,” I said with a reassuring smile. “They won’t always be around to fool around at home. We’ve all got work, you know?”

The reminder that we were all full-time working adults seemed to relieve her.

“Miss,” a soft familiar voice called from the doorway.

I turned around. Hubert shuffled toward me and leaned in close.
